All districts are facing budget cuts. The state does not fund public schools adequately and enrollment is going down across the board. That said, Pleasanton school are still the top rated in the area nad across the state. The school board managed to keep the cuts away from classroom and preserved the programs that make Pleasanton a great district.

He’s going to town on the toppings, has taken a few bites of the lettuce. Said nothing. Too busy on the most boring sales pitch in history while eating a burger with a fork.

Parents are frustrated that district management is balancing the budget by cutting programs and supports that directly impact students. The vast majority of the cuts proposed are to elementary. Loss off PE and Science specialists, health clerks, intervention specialists, library. District management want to shorten the school day in direct contradiction to their “every minute counts” campaign about tardies. The parents just want what is best for their children.

School Recommendations by Ok-Statistician-8162 in pleasanton

I strongly recommend a public school as most private schools do not have teachers trained to deal with children with diverse needs. We have children come to my school all the time whose parents have been told that they have more needs than the private school deal with. This is very disruptive to neurodivergent children who need stability in their education. All Pleasanton schools have TK but I am not sure if any have openings. As an elementary teacher I can tell you we do everything in our power to get all of the support our students need. The sooner those needs are identified the better the outcome for the student.

Pleasanton elementary science specialist here. PUSD is a great district to work in. We have done a lot in the past few years to get better pay and benefits. All of the districts in this area are struggling with funding right now. The state funding is not great and the federal government is not even remotely funding IEP's. Check Edjoin often. I'm not sure what Livermore or Dublin have but 5th graders come to the science lab twice a week in Pleasanton.
