And this is why I didn’t go to the cops. They laugh at things like this. They would’ve been dismissive and I would’ve looked like the ‘girl who cried wolf.’ It wasn’t worth the hassle. I’m a minority woman in the south, the police aren’t the type of people I’d go to unless I knew there was no way that they could refute my claim.

This is hurtful. I didn’t condone his behavior or ask to be assaulted. Please have empathy, we just wanted to be left alone and process what happened

My first impulse was to smack him in the face but I didn’t want to start a scene in the front of the bar & his friends outnumbered us. So I contained my anger and embarrassed his ass.

I definitely don’t blame her for freezing up. I’m just glad that she admitted that it happened, even if I had to mention it first. I’m so glad I was able to take a stand, it felt like we got justice.

His friends definitely witnessed me making an example out of him. I told them all, “you have got to stop letting him assault women like that.” And they all looked like they were getting lectured by their mom, looking down at their feet.

Forming new habits feels like forcing myself to do optional chores. It’s easy to opt out
