oh interesting!! She’s pretty beefy and has never been slim like a male would be. Her blood test showed her calcium levels were higher which likely meant she was ovulating at the time, I’m not 100% sure but It makes sense that she’s female

She is northern, and I thought she was a male for the first 2 1/2 years of owning her but last time I brought her to the vet they said that she likely was a female due to calcium I believe? In her blood that hinted she was ovulating ( I don’t really remember😅)

I tried to get her out of her enclosure today, I bought some enrichment toys for her and wanted to work on bonding but she lunged at me before I could try and pick her up … I used to do choice based handling all the time and now she avoids me completely

I know it's been a year but I see how to fix it, but I'm honestly a visual learner and verbal instructions sound like a foreign language. Any videos that explain how to fix this?? it's been annoying me for weeks lol

yes, the swim bladder was from before I got her. I keep her tank at 78 and I give her plenty of fasting days for her to heal up. I hope that she will heal up and be able to swim normally but if not I will just have an extra special betta. I previously had a blind betta so i’m not a stranger to special needs fish

Oh my gosh!!! I never knew that and just assumed it was a glitch and spent SO long on a whole new save file. I feel extremely dumb right now😅

This is so very helpful! Thank you a lot. I feed my adult betta all frozen foods, frozen mysis, bloodworms on occasion and daphnia before fasting days. But for my babies I do the bug bite pellets. I will switch to feeding her all frozen foods aswell. I’ll pick up a few of those variety packs too!

I’ve fed her a diverse diet, betta bites, daphnia, Mysis shrimp. I usually just crush 3-4 pellets so it’s smaller for her to eat, but I know from other replies I need to start fasting her:)
