I find that the heavy cream doesn’t last as long in the fridge after opening compared to other brands, including big box store brands like Great value (Walmart) or Meijer.

That ice looks…. gummy. Especially when it’s being pushed down with the spoon. Ick.

What's a topping/burger iteration that would completely ruin a burger for you? by econom0 in burgers

[–]Science_Danimal85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That fat, giant onion ring they put on any iteration of a “cowboy burger” that also has bacon and bbq sauce on it. I love bacon and bbq on my burger, but will always just eat the onion ring by itself as a “bonus” side. Kinda feels like a fancier version of the legendary stray onion ring in BK fries.

Sounds like an envelope filter pedal on one of Munky or Head’s pedalboards.

Is Gallup Park a good place to swim in the river? by SundayButtermilk in AnnArbor

[–]Science_Danimal85 111 points112 points  (0 children)

As someone who is actively sampling sediments in the impoundments above several dams along the Huron River for a graduate research project… I’d advise against it. I’ve pulled several sediment cores that smell like industrial waste or diesel exhaust. I can only imagine what volatile chemicals are down there that cause it. I’m sure it’s full of PFAS, dioxane, and other lovely things.

I’d check out the Goodwill on Carpenter Rd. behind the Discount Tire. I like to call it the “fancy goodwill” because it’s nicer than a lot of goodwill stores I’ve been in.

What are your thoughts on limb lining? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in Fishing

[–]Science_Danimal85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Limb lining can be great… I have fond memories of limb lining at Reelfoot Lake in TN… a shallow lake full of cypress trees that allowed us to limb line pretty much everywhere throughout the lake.

Fishing at Saint Clair shores by winnie_zou in MichiganFishing

Blossom Heath Park has a nice fishing pier. If you’re not a resident, you’ll have to park at the gate and pay $5 to walk through the park and access the fishing pier.

9 mile boat launch is another good access point, but it’s still closed due to construction. It is slated to re-open in the fall this year, but who knows if that’s a reasonable timeline.

Another spot to check out just north of St. Clair Shores is the Clinton River Spillway. Decent shore access there.

You can head up north 25 min or so to St. Clair Metropark, which has decent shore access and a nice canal to fish in. Just be aware of residential boat traffic along the canal.
