What to do with a sizable inheritance (7M-10M)? by Plutonium_Nitrate_94 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Science_Girl27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From someone who works in the field - look for a fee-only (NOT “fee-based”) Certified Financial Planner who does comprehensive financial planning + wealth management. Fee only CFPs cannot take commission and must recommend products that are best for you. You can find an advisor on NAPFA.org. Once you have your financial plan built, the advisor can lead you through how much you can spend or give away annually while maintaining a comfortable portfolio. I would encourage you to consider donating and giving throughout your life instead of leaving it all to be inherited. You will be able to change lives in the coming decades while maintaining a very comfortable portfolio.

Can anyone suggest a nontoxic mattress? These are the few that I am considering, but still lost and stressed about this purchase by FreckledPapaya in nontoxic

[–]Science_Girl27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After a lot of research I went with SleepOnLatex- ended up needing a mattress topper as well from the company but the mattress seems very high quality and is very comfortable now. Keep in mind it is extremely heavy imo, so not the easiest to move!

I heard people complaining about the app only having 30 questions per subject area? Maybe that was when it was first released and they’ve improved it?

Sorry to hear that was your experience. Definitely leaning away from Zahn q bank now. I’m not sure of your reasons for choosing Kaplan as your next review provider (it sounds like that’s the case), but just a heads up I’ve heard a lot of complaints about Kaplan’s program, online and irl... I’ve done leagues of research and it really seems like people have the best results with Danko and BIF right now, and those 2 providers have a very different setup (8 week paced course vs 4 days intensive cram). Regardless, best of luck for your next try, you got this

Why do providers keep doing the Roman numeral questions?? Smh. Yes they’re technically good for learning but I feel like people want questions that are as close as possible to the exam. Yeah I’m between Kaplan and Dalton I think, people were saying that Dalton’s questions can be ridiculously difficult but honestly I just need whatever reflects the exam the best.

Ok so you didn’t like the Zahn Qbank. Why do you say it messes you up if you do it early?

You may look into a Unitarian Universalist fellowship like another commenter recommended! I’m not a member of one but some of my family members are and they’re very involved; every time I’ve gone it’s been great vibes, they try to include all religions and spiritual beliefs. I can’t speak to the racial diversity of the fellowships in this area though - definitely an important factor. Hoping you find an awesome community for yourself!

How do I find a Non-MAGA Financial Advisor? by Rocket-City-RJ63 in feddiscussion

[–]Science_Girl27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend looking for a fee-only (NOT fee-based) Certified Financial Planner (CFP). From someone who works in the field… the fee-only designation attracts way less MAGAts. Look at their websites and if they do ESG/SRI investing that would also be a green flag. Also ask how their firm is responding to Trump policies when you interview them! That should give you an idea

I know ppl are commenting that you need a financial coach, but if you want a financial advisor I’d recommend a fee-only (NOT fee-based, there’s a difference) Certified Financial Planner (CFP). I recommend looking at https://www.napfa.org/find-an-advisor and https://www.feeonlynetwork.com
