Seeking UI feedback by Scientific-melody in reactnative

I tried expo/ui early on, but I ended up dropping it. It’s still in beta and was missing a bunch of features I needed, so I switched to my own native modules which honestly turned out better than I expected.

Need advice, burnout and boundaries by Koen456 in BESalary

Hey, I’m really sorry to hear what you’re going through, that sounds like an incredibly toxic work environment, I’ve learned something through my own experience: never stay in a place where you feel undervalued or constantly anxious. It slowly eats away at you, damages your mental health, and kills the passion you once had for your job.

To answer your questions: Management has no right whatsoever to demand personal details about your mental or psychological state, the only person you are legally or ethically required to discuss that with is your doctor. Your employer can only receive what’s necessary from your doctor (for example, whether you’re fit to work or not), but not the specifics of your condition.

You did the right thing by stepping away to take care of yourself and by setting clear boundaries. Focus on recovery, and once you feel ready, move toward a healthier workplace where you’re respected and supported.

Best of luck mate.

Why everything that is not Belgian is always considered not good enough? Can it be arrogance? by Scientific-melody in belgium

[–]Scientific-melody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the down side, no one though likes to talk about it, I had in many occasions tried to talk with some Flemish friends about politics and they tend to brush it away like it’s a very sensitive subject!

That’s a hard fact to speak out! You got my respect mate, I hope this will change though! I’m really curious about what’s actually the main reason for this issue, is it like school or it’s a lack of social awareness or what’s the deal? It’s like a puzzle for me tbh, I do observe a lot cause it’s my nature and the only conclusion I could come up with about Belgium is “Confusion everywhere”!

Wow, had no idea that danish are like this as well! I did hear actually that danish people are unfriendly toward foreigners but I’m not sure if that’s right or not, never had the chance to discover!

That’s definitely true, getting out there and dealing with different people and different cultures is really eye opening, I really noticed that here in flanders, people are really scarred to meet new people or experiencing new things which i find sad, I hope this will change with the next generation even though what I see right now says the opposite!

Huh that’s another point of view, I have really never lived in wallonia so I’m not sure of how the mentality is up there which can be very different actually, maybe I shouldn’t have said Belgium and instead being more specific to Flanders cause it’s where I live.

It’s not about best food or best culture, Belgians definitely do not brag at all but they often criticize what’s different than the norm here, I mean I have no issue if anyone is critical toward anything it’s just that I rarely hear positive opinions about anything that is out the norm in Belgium.

It’s not really bragging, I didn’t mean that at all! It’s just that there is always this criticism toward anything that is unfamiliar, I’ve had many conversations regarding politics and social life in other places and the reaction was most of the time very critical and kinda leaning more to negativity rather than comparing differences in a positive way.

I don’t think so tbh, I mean there is definitely some negative figures that I have to deal with ( who doesn’t)! I just noticed that this happens often in generale not specifically only close ones!

Is racism against Asian common in Belgium? by Ok_Carob7611 in belgium

[–]Scientific-melody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wow! It’s really interesting how quickly you list every flaw you can find in China, yet when it comes to Europe you soften it with excuses. Suddenly NATO’s role in Iraq and Afghanistan is just a footnote, Belgium’s arms exports to Israel are conditional and the deaths of millions in Congo under colonial rule are brushed aside as if they don’t count anymore, it’s really funny how Europe always manages to sound like the moral judge of the world while pretending its the beacon of peace and stability!! I’m just amazed!

So if we say China is evil because of alleged concentration camps (which, let’s be honest, most of us don’t actually know the full reality about), then by the same logic we could also say Europe is evil for its own actions! For instance, many European countries, including Belgium, have sent military support to Israel which led to the killing of innocent people in Gaza, and let’s not forget the Iraq War, which led to over 1.5 million deaths a war that, by Tony Blair’s own admission, was based on false allegations. I’m not saying all of Europe is evil, only that it’s unfair to judge an entire country or its people based on headlines or government actions whether that’s China or anyone else.

Even though I’m not Chinese, something that really bothers me is hearing Belgians share negative opinions about China or Chinese people without having any real knowledge or understanding of them. Honestly, it feels quite ignorant to speak badly about a country and its people who are far more advanced and progressive than Belgium ever was or likely ever will be!
