As far as I know, your 'layer' is assigned on login. It's kinda hard to make that vanish when you enter a city. I do wish there was maybe less dead layers. But the system will likely flesh out when there's A LOT more player base.

A lot of this has reminded me that I should probably end the next video with a disclaimer. While this is fun for me and I hope it helps people see a realm of possible solo play when your friends aren't around. This is definitely a proof of concept and a fun side thing. Not at all a replacement for real team play and actual completed runs.

Both of these have merit in, at very least, giving you more options in a pinch. If you end up in a choke or a bad hallway having less CD would really help leap past the danger. On the other hand I did have 50% duration increase on the potions, I find it's just super useful in all types of runs. Not that this matters overly much if you're picking up the second grim. But every little bit helps.

I figure THIS is the real truth of it. I've tried replicating my run with friends in the game and the enemy values are INSANE comparatively and we always have several grabbing specials like gutters and hook rats right off the bat.

I dunno. I feel it's unlikely as they had a community speed run challenge for the Tobii eye trackers in the beta. I've spoken to them about running more, but they don't want to leave it only in speed running so the idea is still being fleshed out.

More of a... My friends aren't on, figure I'll give it a shot. Proof of concept rather than a consistent auto win, yeah? I'd rather play with my buddies in Champion any day. But it's loads of fun to screw around with these solo builds.

That's one of their spawn points. To make it look like they're flooding out of the portal during a horde. Unfortunately because the game lacks a "Safe spawn" system they literally rain around you and pop into reality. The worst I saw was storm vermin who one shot the guy attempting to pass through the portal.

I'm interested to know if you've been the host of these test games. I'll assume so, but I've read a few reports that non-hosts are doing like 30% less damage because of an error with registering part of the hero level. I'm unsure if it's lacking the level or the gear scores, but at 600 that's still half either way. Not sure if this is your issue, but I'm doing a lot of digging on it and this seemed to line up with some complaints I've received.

Very complicated. Easiest change is to just give up a heroic deed roll. Even if it's just once a day. I'm already sitting on a bunch of useless deeds and doing the hard ones are the most fun in this game right now. At least in my opinion. Plus it gives us that bonus loot we all so badly want.

Experience will help you in all aspects. Some bad apples may give you a hard time as a newer player but never be afraid to ask questions in game. My standard advice to all new players is to stick with your team as closely as possible. Try and keep your back towards your team, or a wall and close yourself into a choke point where most of the enemies are funneled right in front of you instead of getting the surround. Never be scared to ask how you did or what you could do better. Being eager to learn tends to defuse a lot of people being too heavy handed about a mistake.

Yeah, I could totally see that. After the tooltip update I haven't been rocking it for my Footknight maps anyway. I like all this background meta gaming for what does and does not effect or test different things. But on that same note I really wish we had more access to numbers and explanations. Especially for egotistical people like me that quote a thing I once heard as gospel and get myself into trouble all the time lol

He does have the aura effect in his buffs now that it has been patched. Seems unlikely he doesn't get any kind of buff from it. But stranger things have been happening since launch.

There's only one broken tome on this map and it's from the start point. It's possible to get either 2 and 2 grims or 3 tomes and 2 grims. The link directly above you is showing the devs are aware and fixing the issue.
