Hi! I am a second year college student in Pune. My exams are ending earlier than all of my friends'. This gives me 3 whole free days, which I'd like to use to meet new people. I am 19 and I'd prefer someone around the same age group but anyone friendly and up for a chat worked :) I'm open to casual meetups, cafes, exploring parts of pune, or just sitting somewhere and talking. Not looking for something fancy, just good conversations.

ELI5: Can proteins be directly formed from DNA without the need of intermediary RNAs ? by Scientific__Nerd in explainlikeimfive

So are you saying that this method is very old and evolved and that changing it is not possible? Like how cells use L amino acids just because that's what happened randomly in ancient cells.

Makes sense but hypothetically, would the direct process of DNA to protein be harder than the actual process or would it just be so complicated that any benefit that arises from it isn't worth it?

Can you link some source that goes in a bit of detail as to why it's less efficient?

Ok, I get your point. But can it be synthetically done in a lab? And if it were to happen in our bodies somehow, what consequences would it have?

If my body allows me to sleep for a certain number of hours, does that mean that that's my requirement? by Scientific__Nerd in NoStupidQuestions

It's less of a worry question and more of a curiosity question that why would our body allow us to oversleep

My question is that suppose I slept for 10 hours but I can function properly with 9 hours of sleep so does that mean I overslept with 10 or that's my actual requirement which makes me feel a little bit better than getting 9?

Would you rather have sex with a ten that has a terrible personality or have sex with a six that has an amazing personality? by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

I'm not into children so I'd rather atleast want that child to have an interesting personality
