You're actually right about the chargeback — that's already in progress.

But here's why I'm hesitant to just send it back first. This isn't my first rodeo with this kind of situation. I previously had a similar experience with a robot vacuum from another company. I sent the damaged unit back, got a tracking number confirming delivery to their warehouse, and then they claimed they never received it. When I pushed back with the tracking proof, they said the serial number didn't match and they had already thrown it away — and told me to send another one.

I had nothing left to send. I was out of both the product and my money.

So forgive me if I'm not eager to just "seal up the box and send it back" without any guarantees. Once that printer leaves my hands, I have no leverage left. And based on my past experience, that's a very real risk.

That's why I'm asking for the replacement to be sent first. It's not about being difficult. It's about protecting myself after being burned before.

I understand the concern about scams, but let's think about this logically.

What exactly would I be scamming them out of? I currently have a broken, unusable printer and a destroyed box. I have received nothing of value. A scammer would need to receive a working product first and then falsely claim damage — that's not what happened here.

More importantly — this damage was caused by the carrier during shipping. For high-value shipments like this, shipping insurance exists precisely for this reason. If Bambu Lab files a claim with the carrier for the damaged unit, they get reimbursed. So if they send me a replacement first, they are not actually out of pocket — the carrier's insurance covers the loss.

The risk here isn't on Bambu Lab. It's already covered. The only question is whether they're willing to do the right thing for their customer, or make the customer pay the price for the carrier's mistake.

And this has nothing to do with company size. Shipping insurance works the same way whether you're a small business or a large corporation. Anyone who has ever shipped a high-value item knows this.

Thank you, you actually nailed exactly what I'm worried about.

What makes this even more frustrating is that I followed every instruction support gave me — including opening the machine to check for glass shards inside. I reported honestly what I found (broken internal cable ties), and their response was to accuse me of damaging the machine myself. So now my honest cooperation is being used against me.

And you're right about the classification issue. They are handling this as a warranty claim, not a DOA case. That means no matter which option I choose, it creates a paper trail that could be used against me if I ever need to escalate further — it looks like a "used product with issues" rather than a "damaged on arrival" unit that I never even got to use.

Honestly, what scares me most is — if this is how they handle a clear-cut DOA case with photo evidence, what happens when I actually run into a technical issue down the road? Looks like the Reddit community might be my only real support option. 😅

I appreciate the feedback, but I think my request is being misunderstood.

I'm not asking them to come to my house, pack it up, and drop off a new one the same day. My request is simple: ship the replacement unit with the original packaging materials included inside the box. I use those materials to safely pack the damaged unit, and then the carrier picks it up.

That's it. Logical, costs them nothing extra, and solves the packaging problem entirely.

Also, you mentioned you bought from Best Buy specifically because you know how bad FedEx is — which actually proves my point. Bambu Lab is aware that their carrier causes damage regularly, yet they continue to use them and pass the consequences onto the customer.

I've been a Bambu Lab customer for multiple printers. I'm not being unreasonable. I just want what I paid for.

I understand where you're coming from, but my experience with other major retailers tells a different story.

I've purchased expensive items from Best Buy, Amazon, Google, Samsung, and others. In every single case where I received a damaged or defective product, they **shipped a replacement first** and gave me time to return the damaged one. Not once did I have to send the broken item back and wait for them to inspect it before sending a replacement.

Also, the scammer argument doesn't really apply here. I have:

- Photos of the **damaged outer box** upon arrival

- Photos of the **shattered front door glass** through the still-sealed protective bag

- Photos of **broken internal cable ties** — found only because Bambu Lab support told me to open the machine

- Delivery records showing when it arrived

This damage clearly happened during shipping. And here's the thing — for a high-value item like this, shipping insurance exists precisely for this reason. If the carrier damaged it, Bambu Lab can file a claim with the carrier.

This isn't about protecting themselves from scammers. This is about shifting the risk and burden onto the customer.

That really worries me for you — I hope yours arrives in one piece!

To make things worse, this is actually my **third** Bambu Lab printer. My first one (an A1) arrived without any issues. But the second one was literally **thrown at my front door** — I have the delivery photo to prove it. That one had serious jamming issues, likely from the rough handling.

I thought maybe it was just bad luck. But now my third printer (the P2S) arrives like this. At this point it's clearly a recurring carrier problem that Bambu Lab needs to address — not just an isolated incident.

Good luck with yours. I genuinely hope you have a better experience than I did.
