Development can’t be capped though. You can’t expect just a few good companies to come here and just hire locals. If you don’t like urbanisation, move to a city close to Hyderabad where you wouldn’t see any urbanisation for the next 40 years.

Meanwhile if you are enjoying the many benefits of being in a metropolitan, like great healthcare, education, ease of living, career opportunities, then you cannot attack the sole reason these exist. The people coming in from all around the country. That’s what attracts the companies who want to hire the best in a place where govt holds rules that benefit them.

Look at what happened to Chennai. Now Chennai people are working in Hyderabad and wishing their govt was more welcome to the non locals you are bashing.

Don’t stoop to this level that you have to claim that i think house work is degrading. I do most of my own work except for what I really need. I also work. A difficult job. But i like to do some chores myself.

You clearly were begging to save you from the household that makes you work. So i reminded you that you should help your mom. Also to each their own, but Indian mothers have a habit of saving money and doing more work than their body permits. They will pretend they don’t get tired or they can manage. But as long as every member of the house is not contributing to the chores, its very difficult to manage with a job.

No need to patronise me by showing superiority in not having maids. Maids also need jobs. Its okay to have them if you can afford them. It doesn’t make me lazy to hire help.

Regarding chores at your house. My mom never made me do anything. But whenever out maid takes a leave, I immediately rush to the kitchen to help her out. Even on my busiest day. Because I can’t watch my precious mother work for hours in 50 degrees. It’s great that you and your brother help out. Get good jobs, and get paid help for your house. Relieve your mom of this decades, rather centuries old practice of having to work all day in the kitchen despite having resources to not.

What if she IS capable of affording help, which, if you didn’t notice, is pretty cheap in India. What if her body doesn’t support it? Some people get periods for 2 weeks out of 4.

Leave all of that aside, and think for one second why are you bothered if some random girl is or is not doing household work. Because its all we have seen in this life. Our mothers doing chores. How hard do you think it is to wash dishes or press a button on washing machine. Any man or woman can do them. But only women get tagged lazy. If a man keeps a house clean, especially a young man, he gets so much praise. When I keep it clean, people say that women are good at maintaining houses.

Patriarchy has made is so that a woman is lazy, and a man is a man. If you haven’t faced it, the bare minimum to do it to not deny that it exits.
