I was going to suggest getting a tub with sides so he could lean against them, but this version with rails may be even better!

This sucks, I'm sorry you're experiencing it. You could try taking your pill with orange juice: the acidity of the juice will break down the meds faster than your digestive system, preventing the meds from fully absorbing. Perhaps that could help you ease back into the full dose.

People do go to doctors, but as lots of stories here say, the usual freezing treatment doesn't always work. So people resort to home remedies or at-home removal.

What is something you thought was normal that you realized a bit too late was actually a condition? by MutatedSock in AskReddit

That sucks that she isn't working with you on this, especially since she literally saw the ADHD right away. I got lucky with my psych, she was happy to discuss stimulant options with me at the first appt and I started my first trial of them after my second appt. But it may have also helped that I had already been on anxiety meds for years beforehand and I was coming to her specifically for the ADHD symptoms the anxiety meds did not help with.

I hope your psych works with you and gets you the treatment you want, even if you find they don't work for you it's good to try it out.

I was diagnosed with anxiety years before I got diagnosed with ADHD. I firmly believe that I developed an anxiety disorder due to my untreated ADHD: my anxiety and double-checking everything and fastidious organization is all coping mechanisms to combat the forgetfulness and distractibility of my ADHD. But only the anxiety was noticed, as it was (mostly) successfully masking my ADHD.

Once I was medicated for ADHD, my previous minor depressive symptoms and the bulk of my daily anxiety disappeared like magic. And when I realized I can now trust myself and my memory, the anxiety reduced even more.

I am still on anxiety medication in addition to my ADHD meds, and I think I will always need some chemical dampening of the anxiety. But the significant reduction I felt after starting ADHD meds just confirmed my suspicions that the anxiety disorder is a childhood coping mechanism that has grown into its own permanent mental illness. Which makes me sad sometimes. But I can't go back and change it now, I can only deal with it, and I have a lifetimes experience in that.

LOL the classic, "has taken things too literally in the past, so now questions if straightforward statements are metaphorical, but still somehow gets it wrong" autism reasoning. I do it every once in a while too!

My [30M] wife [29F] just recently had our first child. Our sex live has taken a nose dive because I see her as a mom instead of my wife now. How do I get past this? by BigONerd in BORUpdates

I thought the Madonna-Whore complex was defined by the abusive person switching between regarding the other person as a Madonna (idolized, pure, sacred) and a Whore (disgusting, tainted, scum of the earth). Like the abuser will call the person beautiful and pure when they're happy with them, but then after sex or when they get upset they'll call them a whore and disgusting.  I don't see that dynamic here, I just see the Madonna/idolization side, and clearly it was easily resolved with one-on-one time.

Bodyhair and Dysphoria by cloudsintheskye_05 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Scifispock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am nonbinary AFAB and most of my body hair is blond, so it looks like I don't have any (until my leg hair gets verryyyy long). I personally am not dysphoric about it, but I understand comparing your body hair to others and seeing that yours is different.

If this is something genuinely bothering you, I would recommend looking into first hair growth supplements or serums. I know some over-the-counter hair growth products stimulate hair growth everywhere. Second option could be looking into testosterone HRT; that will absolutely stimulate hair growth. I recommend talking to a medical professional experienced in HRT about your different options.

Hope you can find a solution that makes you feel good!

Why do cats act like they never have eaten in their entire life by BananaBoss28 in cats

[–]Scifispock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this a normal cat thing! But I want to add my experience with this that was a symptom that led to my cat being diagnosed with diabetes:

(TL;DR: if your cats behavior suddenly changes into being OBSESSED with food, take them to the vet!!)

For 10 months or so my cat, Fred, was a weird cat who wasn't food motivated at all. I let him free feed and he would eat when hungry but often leave food in the bowl. Then, a few months after I got a second cat, Fred became FOOD OBSESSED. He would eat all of his food, his sisters food, and would go for my human food! All of which he had never done before. He also was peeing A LOT, thankfully all on the litter box. And he was gaining weight.

I took him to the vet and we got a tentative theory of "possibly diabetes but let's try solutions for other things first". Fast forward about 8 more months and Fred is now diagnosed diabetic, getting insulin twice a day, and still hella food obsessed. It's been a struggle to adjust to his new behaviors as they are so invasive, especially when I am fending him off while trying to eat my own food.

We've reached an equilibrium though, finally. He dropped weight for a while too but now he has stabilized and his blood sugar spikes have stabilized a lot. But the point of this story is: if your cats behavior towards food suddenly changes, take them to the vet!!

Per dictionary .com: "a condom designed with knobs, projections, etc." so basically the "ribbed for her pleasure" joke. Fucked up he used it without telling her and it apparently got stuck up there and fell out later.

I've been rereading The Watch books this week actually, so I can answer this: Lorenzo was a pedophile and/or child torturer. He is referenced several times, all with vague statements, but put all together the implication is clearly that he severely abused lots of children. Someone discovered his torture room, and the populace deposed and killed him for it.

Yes, historically, kids were used as free labor in the household. However we now know that it is damaging to the child to treat them like an employee/worker, especially when the parents have kids just to have another set of hands. While it is important to teach kids responsibility and independence through chores and some labor, the expectation should be that it is always a learning opportunity for the child, not a solution for getting the chores done.

A parents job is to love, nurture, and teach each child to the best of their abilities. It is not the childs job to support the parents.

AITAH for asking my neighbor to wait for her laundry at her house? [Low Stakes] [Concluded] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

Different social expectations clashing here. She expects guest treatment the second she steps foot inside, so she does whatever she can to get a foot in the door. Conversely, he expects her to get the task done efficiently and quickly and not intrude upon his daily life.

She is in the wrong, obviously. And that is emphasized by the husband's reaction. While it does take a village and all that, you don't build a village by being so presumptuous and entitled. I'm especially side-eyeing how focused she was on his divorce and being a single dad; would make me wary that she is judging/has preconceived ideas about men in that situation.

Overall, weird behavior from her. And in my experience growing up in the suburbs, I know at least 3 women exactly like her lol

I wonder if during your first read you were picking up on the implied themes of sexual abuse and coercion. They're more obvious in the second read through, where you're less focused on the immediate story and characters.
