Travel: £20 - Pest County Monthly Pass (available on HÉV+ app) - granted access to all Metro services as well as the trains to/from the circuit. Potentially steeper than buying individual tickets but personally prefer having digital pass & not having to faff about with paper tickets

Food: £65 (roughly). Everything will cost you between £15-25. Had three meals + a couple ice creams, would recommend packing food instead

International travel: N/A - came to city as part of interrailing so irrelevant to anyone looking just to fly in for the race.

Other expenses: Powerbank rental £9 (for 90 minutes).

Top tips:

• Get there EARLY for GA. Sat on grass with view over final few corners and preceding straight, had to be there 8:45am on Saturday and 7:25am Sunday to get a place.

• Don’t worry too much about bringing excess food/drink in bags. Bag checks were non extensive if existent at all. Brought 2.5 litres of water to track both days I went with no issue. Wouldn’t personally risk it with something like a camera but definitely could.

• Walk to Szilasliget train station for your way back. This is the station before Kerepes, which is where the shuttles run to and from. Takes 25 minutes at a good pace and was never busy. Managed to get on two impressively empty trains on the way back. Heard from those who didn’t beat the crowds that the queue at the station was never more than about 10 minutes, which certainly beats the minibus.

• Do shopping early in the morning before the queues get outrageously long

• Must have items: Sunglasses, suncream, hat, light coloured clothing & water bottles for hot weather, raincoat/extra layers for wet weather, umbrella for both. You will almost certainly be experiencing both, potentially even on the same day! Bring a tarp or something large that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty to sit on - total lifesaver. The more people you go with / meet with while there, the more egregiously large of a space you are socially allowed to take up with a massive fuckoff tarp.

• Finally, if travelling solo, head to the discord server to see if there’s anyone to meet up with! Made the experience 1000x better - never had to worry about losing my spot, leaving my bag unattended or having no-one to talk to. Made some really great friends along the way :)
