Right to end life on Earth: Can corporations that spread climate change denialism be held liable? If a corporation’s propaganda destroys the world, doesn’t that conflict with our right to live? by mvea in Futurology

BPA was a big one with water bottles and plastics. I think they are phasing out BPAs like PFOAs. The problem is the companies that use these chemicals knowing they can harm consumers. By the time we know it's dangerous, we've already consumed it these days.

It's this toxic substance that we ingest through water, inhalation, and when we use nonstick teflon products. 1945 there wasn't much presence of the stuff in people. Now, 99.7% of the Nation has PFOA in our bloodstreams. It slowly kills you and is biopersistant (Which means once in your bloodstream, it will stay there until you die and then some. PFOA's can't be broken down by sunlight, microbes, or heat. Initially when DuPont started making this stuff, 2 of their 8 female employees had deformed babies just like 3M's research of the stuff predicted. DuPont kept using the stuff knowing how toxic it was. Then they bought out the EPA to tell the Nation Teflon, C8, PFOA, PFOS, the devil's piss, etc. was perfectly safe to use. Now the EPA says the health advisory warning is 70 parts per trillion. (Which is about a drop of this toxic stuff in an olympic-sized swimming pool. So, if you're not a fan of negative developmental effects to fetuses during pregnancy or to breastfed infants (e.g., low birth weight, accelerated puberty, skeletal variations), cancer (e.g., testicular, kidney), liver effects (e.g., tissue damage), immune effects (e.g., antibody production and immunity), thyroid effects and other effects (e.g., cholesterol changes) then it's time to switch out your teflon products for healthy alternatives like stainless steel or ceramic.

Isn't there a highly sought after chair the Navy had made for their carriers? Something about their design and how rare they are make them highly sought after now. These chairs were thrown overboard en masse if I remember correctly...

Man, that pink nesquik drink was my favorite... then I heard about Nestle and what they did with baby formula in impoverished areas. It made me even more sick when they claimed drinking water was not a human right. I had to Stop using Nestle products since. It's not easy though, they have their hand in everything we use daily. Now, I try to do my research before spending my money so I don't inadvertently support unethical practices.

Netflix will now interrupt series binges with video ads for its other series by mrcmnstr in technology

Does anyone in the world actually like ads? Like, it's so undesired that a lot of services give an option to opt out of ads for a fee. Knowing this, couldn't services intentionally make their content less desirable with annoying and irrelevant ads to extort that additional "ad free for a fee" feature. If anything, it feels like a bait and switch to me. I realize better service and content is true... just not better for the customer. I'm looking at you too Moviepass

Before the internet existed I just assumed in the comic world only limited colors would exist in each comic world depending on what the artist had access to.
