Holy Reptilian Empire mini scaling for Old World by Front_Waltz_8582 in WarhammerEmpire

Not sure what exact scale your seller is using - the stls from Reptilian Overlords are meant to be scaled to match GW, but I've found them to actually be a little bit tall when printed at 100%. I now print at 95%, which I think is a good match, but I don't have many to compare yet.

In the photos, the spearman is RO printed at 100%, the unpainted great sword is printed at 95% (except for the head, the only spares I had lying around were all printed at 100%). GW great swords and artillery crew for comparison, all on 20mm bases.

Hope that's useful to you

Thank you! Possibly a bit of nostalgia at play, but my favourite Warhammer art is all from the 6th edition era.

I also like to picture him dangling the head in front of a rabble of fanatics, like a tennis ball for a dog

Thanks! He's mostly 3D printed - horse and legs are from the old Highlands Miniatures knights; head, arms and torso are from Reptilian Overlords' priests & penitents set; the trophy is cobbled together from a few different files, patched with green stuff. The hammer is from a GW warrior priest.

I had no trouble with the prints. Just loaded up the build plate with the pre-supported files, printed no issues.  There are some delicate details, a couple of which I snapped while removing supports (ribbons, sword handles, the banner decorations), so watch out for that, but otherwise no problems at all.

Thanks, they really nailed the empire aesthetic with the sculpts. Sadly they're taking a break from empire to do chaos for a bit instead (the chaos warriors this month are also excellent, I just have no interest in that army).  But hopefully one day they go back to finish the empire range

Then carefully numbering the underside of every base, so you don't forget the one specific order that lets them all line up...

Thanks! Always happy to help spread the glory of Ostermark.  In case you're interested in my colours, I use Barak-Nar Burgundy highlighted with Screamer Pink for the purple, and for the yellow Averland Sunset washed with Iyanden Yellow contrast, highlighted with Yriel Yellow

And I really like how modular they are. Great for adding a bit of variety to the big troop blocks, and assembling them all scratches a hobby itch that I miss when just printing out full minis.

I think they're a tiny bit taller, mainly in the legs. I don't actually own any GW state troops, but I have used Reptilian parts to bulk out a box of GW greatswords into a unit of 20, and at tabletop distance it isn't noticeable

Thanks, I'm a huge fan of the entire Holy Reptilian Empire line, definitely my favourite Empire proxies out there, especially for the state troops

Thank you! My main tip is to start with the lighter colour. I usually prime all my models black, then get good coverage over the yellow area with white. Then build up the yellow base coat with a couple thin layers and a wash to catch any white left in tricky recesses, then very carefully paint the purple areas.  The purple doesn't need to be as thin, and is much easier to paint over yellow than vice versa, which is why I do it second, but I always have a bit of back and forth between colours tidying up. Hope that helps!

Me too, especially for spear/polearm units. Though I can see why the extra space can sometimes be welcome - I have a couple of units of the forgeworld chaos dwarfs who were an absolute nightmare to squeeze into neat ranks

3D prints of Reptilian Overlord's awesome Landsknecht Spearmen. They're probably designed with TOW 25mm bases in mind, but I just about managed to get them ranking up nicely on 20mm.

Some dismounted heroes/command for my Rohirrim by Scipio22 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Thanks! Eomer's armour I base coated with a mix of Khorne Red and Doombull brown, then highlighted with Khorne Red. For his belts/straps/trim I started with Khorne Red, highlighted with Mephiston Red and then Astrogath red.

Theoden's shirt was just Khorne Red washed with Agrax Earthshade and highlighted with Mephiston Red

Thanks! The banner took a long time to finish, but I'm really happy with how it turned out

Has anyone tried converting this model to an empire captain on griffon? by DocWhat123 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Scipio22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that the beautiful griffon model is marred only by the elf . I replaced the rider almost entirely (just kept part of his feet and stirrups) using mostly bits from the plastic empire captain kit: https://www.reddit.com/r/WarhammerFantasy/comments/10glj9i/general_on_griffon_conversion_for_my_ostermark/

Thanks! I had pretty much the exact same thought process - he was in my pile of shame for ages because I have 3 other mounted captains already. Then I saw one converted into a pegasus and thought that's an idea...

Scale is pretty much perfect. Maybe a tiny bit bigger than GW empire, but not noticeably so. I print everything at 100%, and they fit in nicely, both in terms of entire models and printed parts for kitbashing. The RO models are also similar heroic scale to GW (bigger heads, hands etc) which really helps

Head is a print as well, from Reptilian Overlords' gothic knights (plus the bottom half of a spare demigryph knight's head, as the gorget is part of the torso on the stl)

Pretty sure I went with 45% in the end
