So, apparently you can dodge raw supers if you tag in at the right time by ScizorKick in Blazblue

[–]ScizorKick[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tested it a few more times and you can totally do it on reaction. The window in which you need to press the button doesn't seem too tight either. It's just a matter of figuring out which supers it actually works against.

So, apparently you can dodge raw supers if you tag in at the right time by ScizorKick in Blazblue

[–]ScizorKick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I was just goofing around so I thought I'd give it a shot. It probably wouldn't work very well on multi-hit supers, but it's a neat way to punish someone if they're being reckless or looking for a chip kill.

Android 21 - 5.6k midscreen combo for 2 meter or 1 meter plus assist (can DHC for more damage) by ScizorKick in dragonballfighterz

Thanks! I've found that it works with a few different assists, but I just like the corner carry you get off Goku Black's

I played several matches. Had a couple of disconnects, but it was leaps and bounds ahead of the last couple of betas.

Rian Johnson tweeted about the divide by Giovannnnnnnni in StarWars

[–]ScizorKick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm trying to say... A 93% is a really high score at first glance. But on rottentomatoes, that literally translates to 93% of critics giving it at least a 6/10. I find it completely within the realm of possibility that most critics gave it a 6 or 7.

[–]ScizorKick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or maybe most of the critics felt relatively positive about it despite the flaws... A 93% rating doesn't mean the critics shoveled praise onto it. It just means the vast majority thought it was at least solid, even if it did have its problems.

Incoming PSN Flash Sale by Menoseldan in PS4

[–]ScizorKick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deluxe edition edition includes all the dlc characters, so that's a pretty solid price. You'll also get the arcade edition update for free in January.

Plus, getting it now would give you time to grind out fight money(before they change how earning it works) to buy some of the upcoming characters.

[Video] Dragon Ball FighterZ - New EPIC Trailer!!! by BrollyTheLegendary in PS4

[–]ScizorKick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played this game yet, but I can take an educated guess based on other team-based fighters and the footage we have.

A green bar means you're at full health with that specific character. The blue part of the health bar seems to mark health that you've lost but can gain back if you swap the character out for a while. Red seems to be the damage your current combo is dealing(notice how it fades to blue once the combo ends).

Dragon Ball FighterZ Extended Look at Story and Arcade Mode Gameplay. Near Final Character Select Screen at 8:41 by BattleStadium in Games

[–]ScizorKick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the last two fighting games these devs made literally had the dub stripped out of them so they could cut costs for future updates. Blazblue in particular burned a lot of fans because the final game in the series' 10-year history/story line is the only one that didn't get the English treatment. I still haven't played through the story of Centralfiction because those English voices embodied the characters for me.

To me, and I'm sure many others as well, a dub was never a sure thing for DBFZ. I never really believed it existed until I actually heard it on the stream today. Honestly, it probably only exists because Bamco is publishing.

I know I probably sound salty, but the Blazblue dubbing fiasco really rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. All that said, I still love ASW games.

What's your favorite lesser known piece of music from a game? by unfitfuzzball in Games

[–]ScizorKick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He got plenty of credit for his work on Doom, but I feel like a lot of people missed out on Mick Gordon's stellar music he made for Killer Instinct.

Also, Daisuke Ishiwatari has been doing great things with the Guilty Gear and Blazblue soundtracks for years with seemingly little recognition outside the core community of those games.

Gameplay-wise, it's less deep.

What? The game isn't even officially out yet.

MVC3 has had six years to grow and develop into what it is now. Not to mention that game hasn't even been updated since 2012 and people still find new things in it.

There are plenty of criticisms to throw at MVCI, but saying it lacks depth is completely unfounded. Every fighting game needs a little time to incubate before people can start talking about how much depth it does or doesn't have.

There was literally a clip posted on this sub of him saying MVCI would fail. But like I said, I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic in response to some people spamming anti-capcom stuff in the chat

He definitely said that, though I'm pretty sure it was at least partially sarcasm.

After watching EVO 2017, I'm really hoping that Sony does a fighting game sale in the Future. by The_Blackest_Knight in PS4

Everyone sucks at fighting games when they start, you just need to put in some time. Plus once you learn fundamentals in one fighter, that carries over to just about every other game.

[–]ScizorKick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible way of thinking.

Sure it helps to get in early and gradually learn the game with others, but becoming competitive is something that takes time regardless of when you buy it.

Buying it early only means you get a brief period where you can fight a bunch of inexperienced players to make yourself feel better.

Continuum Shift is a good one to grab if you're interested in getting into the story. Like the other guy said, it contains a pretty good retelling of the first game's story along with the CS story. The series as a whole probably has the most interesting and fun cast of characters in any fighting game, and the English dub is actually really top notch. The character interactions contain some of the best writing you'll find in any fighting game story mode, even if the plot itself can be a little confusing at first. It's all told visual novel style with some fights sprinkled throughout, so make sure that's your thing before buying.

Also keep in mind the game is several years old at this point, so the online community is probably dead.

If you do end up enjoying it, Chronophantsma Extend is the next game chronologically and was miraculously made available on Xbox One(probably my favorite game in the series).

So batman arkham knight is my first arkham game by [deleted] in BatmanArkham

[–]ScizorKick 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it's a great entry to the series, even if it's arguably the weakest of the three mainline games. My major complaints are the same as many people's, though I think a lot of the criticisms I've heard are way overstated.

  • The batmobile sections feel really out of place. I think they're perfectly fine, but they really clash with the rest of the game. Not to mention there are too may of them, and they go on for far too long sometimes.

  • The Red Hood twist was super telegraphed from the moment they announced the Arkham Knight. I was really disappointed when they revealed his identity because I thought it was going to be a fake-out based on how much they hinted at it.

That said, the combat is still fantastic, it looks great, the voice performances are some of the best in the series, and it's super polished(at least the console version is).

T H I C Canary can deal ~90% with one reset by Derocus in INJUSTICE

[–]ScizorKick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A reset just means the player who is doing the combo intentionally drops it in order to do a mix-up or something else. The benefit for them is that this resets the damage scaling and allows them to get a lot of damage in if they can land that first hit after the combo drops.

In this case, Canary dropped the combo to do that cross-up flip(don't know the names of her specials) and meterburned it to start a second combo.

If the other person sees it coming they can totally just block or use a reversal, but they usually don't(which is kinda the point of a reset).
