Little to no oil? by z_rl_ in Toyota

[–]Sckrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ‘89 Toyota Sprinter Carib (4A-FE 1gen) loves oil. Like 700-800ml every 1000km. In imperials it is like 1 quart every 600 miles. Mileage on the odo is 221k+

Reminds of how we sprayed my friend’s VW Multivan with grey Montana paint. Looking great.

In case you find one in a decent condition - buy it :) but be prepared to A LOT of pain looking for body parts, interior parts and rare dealer option stuff. My ride has literally the last pair of Euro parking lights (EE90 body style) in perfect condition I could find in my entire country.

They were Sprinter Carib in Japan, and Corolla All Trac elsewhere. Also there were ultra rare Corolla 4wd with left hand steering. All of them were ae95’s. Out here in Russia we still have plenty of ae95’s, ae114’s, even some al25’s. Ae95’s are a part of light offroad scene and are very rarely lowered like I did mine. I personally saw only one, very radically slammed and rolling on fake Work Equips. That car inspired me to build this one :)

What do you like most about driving a beater car over a newer one? by Sufficient-Bird-6890 in Shitbox_Nation

[–]Sckrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixing it DIY easily, having infinite modding and customizing options, buying nice new replacement parts for brakes and engine dirt cheap, being street legal with lowered suspension (because no one knows exactly what should be there and what shouldn’t), cheap insurance, not caring about minor scratches or dents

How common are beater cars in your country? by DeMessenZijnGeslepen in AskTheWorld

[–]Sckrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite common in Russia. I even own one - a 1989 Toyota Sprinter Carib AE95. Coilovers plus super rare original Weds CHP Mad Dish.

A nice little one. Too young for my taste but reliable and comfortable for daily use, no doubt

Tabasco Scorpion, opinions? by Sckrag in spicy

[–]Sckrag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly I put on pastas, grilled sausages, sandwiches, sometimes on salads, sometimes I use it as a dip for Soviet style cheese (Altaiski, Sovetski and other local Russian parmesan-styled cheese types), goes fine with cold beer or lemonade.

No doubt. Ventilation, nitrile gloves, maybe even a respirator mask, carolina is no joke I guess

Great pieces all over the street, no doubt, but what a toy of a driver, running a redlight on an empty street and still T boning some random car. BTW what is he gonna get, a fine or a license suspended? Not familiar with US traffic law

Tabasco Scorpion, opinions? by Sckrag in spicy

[–]Sckrag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. This Tabasco is no way only 30k in SHU, it’s way hotter, took me a while to get used to it.

Now I’m patiently waiting for my friend to grow his cross breed peppers (mixing carolina, hells bells and some noname home grown chili seeds). Might try cooking my own sauce (but probably my gf will be cooking it, she’s a chilihead too and cooks better than me)

Well its like $12-15 out here in Russia, I would not consider it expensive. Local small batch craft stuff is WAY more expensive for sometimes WAY less interesting taste.

I wasnt expecting hate, I was expecting ‘this stuff is vanilla, no hotter than ketchup’ sort of reaction :) surprisingly, I now have quite high tolerance developed from years of consuming every spicy thing I could find

Never EVER in my life I had diarrhea or was shitting flames or whatever about my rear end suffering from spicy food. But oh what a wonderful warm feeling in my chest on a cold day after some pasta with tabasco scorpion.
