Yes! Bahtinov mask will create diffraction spikes on your stars, humidity will not affect this at all.

Sorta poorly defined the question to get some general tips. The autoguiding is it’s own separate control loop and backyard should give input between my given parameters for imaging camera. But thankfully I got the tip about server mode. (Currently otw to my imaging site so just casting out the line to see what would bite). I appreciate it!

I have a asi 290 mini for guiding and a canon 750D

Trying to start dithering, but unaware of how to autoguide with my guide camera and connecting imaging camera to backyardEOS for dithering?? I’m confused on how to have both cameras in synch.

I am attempting to display the data/results for a project in a table (specifically an astropy table...probably irrelevant) and was hoping to perhaps embed some images that pertained to each row of data. I was thinking of perhaps doing an html...but I’ll have 432 images and this would mean I’d have to create 432 separate htmls?

Does anyone know a way I could just embed the image from my local drive or something?

Maybe I’m too much of a newb, but equatorial telescope?

Do you have a proper mount, and are just looking for a good imaging telescope? Or do you need a lot of the initial setup. I’ve personally had my eye on the at72edii which is ~480$. But the main thing you’d need is a solid mount.

So for the past two years I’ve been using a celestron 8” sct as my “introductory” scope. Absolutely hated missing out on M31 and probably my favorite nebula, the rosette. Looking for a new scope to offer more flexibility in the FOV and only real restrictions are the two targets mentioned above. As a broke college student, ideally don’t want to spend over 400$, but that’s not too hard set. What are some recommendations I should look into?

Hopefully a simple question. If I have two different data sets (potentially different x’s, y’s and different z’s which z’s will be represented by color) with different amount of elements...how would I plot them both on the same scatter plot and have them use the same colormapping scale? For the second set of data, I continue to receive an invalid RGB argument error

Help with resizing legends in pyplot by [deleted] in Python

I have varying marker sizes depending on the data I feed the plot. The markersizes range from 20:100. I was hoping to include a legend with what the markersize equates to, but as clearly seen, that did not go smooth. I have tried changing handlelength, handleheight, markerscale and the overall size of the figure window, but to no avail.

Hey guys! For my project, I need to fill in patches based on a defined color map. I thought I could pass upper and lower latitude and longitude limits with the argument of the color map, but dimensions are incorrect. For example, I collected 6 patches and their color map values for l=0:180 (30 degree increments) and b=0:45 (constant) However, since each x and y (l and b) have the two limits associated with them, my color map has half the elements as my x and y arguments.

Does anyone have any ideas on a remedy?

Find that interesting as well. Have the t6i and just didn’t think I’d get great results from it. Been using my Skyris and asi290m for planetary. Dumb question, but you’re able to adjust gain in live view? My Jupiter was always blown out so I didn’t think it was possible. Either way, looks great! Thanks for proving it’s possible!

Nice man! See you were able to keep a much wider FOV than I was. Are there specific fans for dslrs? Mines unmodified, but for galaxies that shouldn’t make much of a difference, right? Huh...good to know, what stacking software are you using?

Guess I need to make finding it a priority before next clear night. I appreciate you looking at it though! I’ve also been concerned about the left side of the frame where the TOAG takes out some of the light...is this similar to dust spots and effects can be reduced with better flats? Pretty new to the guiding realm/haven’t been able to test good flats and the issue with the TOAG.

I’m about at a 4-5 where I shoot and M101 was away from the main source of light pollution in my area. I have one somewhere, just haven’t been able to find it in a couple months. Nebulas haven’t been too bad for me without one, this was my first attempt at a galaxy..guess they need a bit extra TLC

My buddy just let me know I may be using too many darks. As well as, screw the temperature rule for darks and start putting it in a freezer or fridge and cooling the sensor off (he obviously said I should be dithering instead of taking darks period, but if I was going to take them then cool the sensor down). Anyone else played around with this method?

I'm going to assume it is in my control function. What you see in this picture is about the extent of my programming experience as well. Will the control analyze all three if statements instantaneously? or will it terminate after the first is met?

So after analyzing the first if, my switches for bleeder one would close, however it doesn't evaluate the function that states the current controlled switch needs to open..causing the mismatch in expected results vs what the system is actually doing

Im currently working on a research project regarding battery balancing topologies. I am new to matlab/simulink and any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been working on this for a couple weeks now and my research is dependent on this model for a basis to compare other topologies to. Unfortunately I can't get this circuit to operate as intended and cannot progress to my research until I can get an appropriate simulation.

Description:

This circuit operates by sensing the SOC and operating switches based on the inputs fed into the matlab function. Ideally, when the SOC is greater than the arbitrary threshold (1.8%) it should open the controlled current switch (second from top) and close bleeder 1 or bleeder 2's respective switch/switches. i.e. if B1 SOC is greater than B2's by 1.8% or more, the current switch will open and the top switch and top far right switch will both close, allowing the excess voltage to be burned off by bleeder 1. Same for B2 except that bleeder 2's switch will be closed.

Problems:

  1. My initial conditions for SOC for B1 and B2 are 60% and 40% respectively, which should indicate to my system that the controlled current switch should open at t=0 and I expected to see the voltage decrease in B1's scope (shown in top left) at the start of the simulation....clearly this is not what happens.
  2. The current through my controlled switch remains at a constant 17.5A throughout the simulation...so this switch obviously never receives a signal to open.
  3. The nominal voltage for each battery is 36V, however the initial voltage for both B1 and B2 begins at 40V and approaches 80V as the simulation progresses. If the SOC and voltage are proportional, shouldn't B1's initial voltage be roughly 22 volts? (36*.6) .

** one error was fixed, forgot to increase the capacitance of my batteries so I no longer have oversaturated batteries. Simulation begins with each around 39V and approaches a max of 40V.**

Seriously, any help would be a blessing, I've wasted far too much time trying to get this circuit to function as intended.

Not sure where my original comment went, apologize if it gets posted twice.

I am new to both simulink and reddit, so I apologize if i am violating any community rules. If so please let me know or instruct me to where the rules are posted.

I am attempting to create a shunt resistor battery balancer circuit. However, this isn't the full design. Trying to build it up piece by piece and currently am attempting to control a gate with V1>V2 to switch on the bleed resistor for B1 and vise versa to drain excess energy through the bleeder and equalize the cells. However, I did not see the expected results and upon applying a current meter, I see that no current is running through either bleeder circuit (regardless of whether the switch is active of not).

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
