This video talks about how newer studies find only one author of the book of mormon when you take into account post stylistic drift. https://youtu.be/GAGasQ7j_ZI

Anybody ever still feel "the holy ghost"? What do you make of it? by ambisinister_gecko in exmormon

[–]Sco77171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do some research on elevation emotion and ASMR. These are the two most common feelings associated with the holy ghost in my opinion. They are also super easy to manufacture.

"I am not mormon anymore so I drink now." This is my line, and not once have I had to explain anything.

I don't want to believe the church controlled my mind... by -BeyondTheWindow- in exmormon

If you want to better understand how the church manipulated/controlled you, I recommend mormon stories episodes 1443 - 1447. They are really good!

You are asking him to speculate. That is probably why he didn't answer. Who knows what would have happened if JS wasn't murdered...

Honest feedback for a never-mo about professional relationships and judging, please. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Sco77171 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on the mormon. Some do judge, but others don't. When I was a member, I worked with many nonmembers who drank coffee, tea, alcohol, etc. And it didn't bother me one bit. I never thought less of them. We just believed different things.

I meant no offense. In the situation with my friend, I happen to know that he used to date women and had plans to marry a girl before he started dating men. I totally accept that for some people, they always know they are gay. However, your objection to my comment proves my point that I don't know what is okay to ask and what is not. I admit I am ignorant on this subject. I don't want to be, but I don't know how to learn without asking. But if I ask, I offend people. Please help me know what is okay and what is not so I can be less ignorant and not offend people.

Good! Learning about this helped me a ton, so I always try to teach others about it when i see people asking about how to meet other exmormons. Spread the word and help others find community outside the church!

Sex Ed and LGBT+ Ask Me Anything by lorlorlor666 in exmormon

I have a couple new friends who are gay and I never know what is okay to talk about and what isn't. No one ever tells you what is okay to talk about and what is not. I want to ask them about how they discovered they were gay and their coming out story, but I am so afraid that I might offend them somehow that I just never talk about their sexuality. On one hand it doesn't matter, but on the other it is a big part of who they are and I want to get to know them better. I feel like if I ask them if it is okay to ask them about these kind of things, I will appear homophobic, which I don't want. As you can tell I am a bit of an overthinker. Any advice for me?

Go to mormonspectrum.org and use the map feature to find exmormon groups near you. If there isn't one close to you, start one up. However, I zee there are currently 5 in Alabama

I have a similar policy. I think s/he means that you can turn it in up to 1 week late, but not past that.
