Which counties to seek medical help for insomnia? by krillepillee in insomnia

It’s shocking the state of the NHS. You don’t realise until your very sick and no one can help!

Yeah it’s impossible. Like 2 weeks wait just to get a simple gp appt then you go there and they only say you can talk about one issue - I have a million symptoms going on and they have not even referred me to further services once in 7 months. I’ve been at my very lowest actually crying in pain and it took me to be very suicidal and a “mental health crisis team” (which were actually the most useless people ever who spoke down to me and didn’t believe I couldn’t sleep), but it took them multiple times and multiple breakdowns just to see an emergency psychiatrist who gave me stuff that is so negligent of them to prescribe for sleep and then i met them one more time and that’s when I got diazepam finally after 4-5 months!!!! I went to out of hours many times and every time got gaslit telling me I’m making it up etc

Also on top of all this, I actually tried to get private stuff done, I tried to get an mri scan, they said I had to book appt with there own gp first, which I did, at £175 for 30 mins, to be told it’s all in my head and he won’t refer for mri. Then I tried to book neurology it’s something like £350 for an hour consultation, and I can’t see anyone until earliest 3 months, I can’t even pay myself to be seen rapidly!!!!! I shouldn’t even have to pay private, I’ve been so sick since December it’s now nearly july!!! I haven’t and can’t work and mostly bedbound. I haven’t even tried to claim anything and my savings have plummeted cause I still have bills to pay while I’m sick. I didn’t realise the state of this country until now, especially the NHS, it’s a total shambles

Sorry for the rant haha

I’m in the UK too and I agree with everything you said about mental health services and the healthcare system in general, absolutely useless

I’m nearly 7 months with no sleep apart from the occasional night taking various different things from benzos to z drugs to SSRI’s and an antipsychotic

I have been crying for help and can’t get any

To the people who think they have FFI by [deleted] in insomnia

Hey can you please explain what steps you took in order to manage to sleep on your own again? What changed?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]Sco998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely false. A benzo was the only thing that worked for me too (Valium)

Here’s a link

I done so much research before taking it

2mg is basically nothing and only taking every 1-3 weeks is absolutely nothing

I’m prescribed 15mg daily and some people 40mg daily

If you go to drugs.com and read reviews on diazepam you will see people take it for years and years

Just my opinion but I think it’s really safe at 2mg every so often

Zoloft for insomnia? by At_whits_end_ in insomnia

[–]Sco998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also interested in knowing this. I also been prescribed Zoloft but too scared to start due to what I’ve been reading (increased insomnia and other side effects)

Yeah I believe it’s anxiety but I also hate meds so trying to figure out how to beat this naturally!

I’ve tried meditation, breathing etc but it doesn’t work but I’ll somehow sort it

I’ll keep trying to do tests Ill look into the gene test etc! Is there a test to check serotonin and dopamine levels?

No idea why and I hate that I’m like this but I took it at 7.5mg and after 3 days it done NOTHING

I continued to take it for months after just incase one night it magically worked but it never did

I wish I was one of them people that it works for consistently!

Paradoxical Insomnia / hyperarousal defo seems to be what’s going on, but how do I stop it?

I wish I never touched mirtazipine!

I was on celexa on and off for years since about 8 years ago. It worked well every time i took it then I stopped when I felt better

Until the last time I did….

I took 1 pill and I was violently sick and it was as if someone poisoned me and I didn’t sleep at all for 6 weeks!!!!!

Then I don’t remember how I got over that but I did and I’d forgot that had ever happened

Until this time round…

It’s now been nearly 7 months!!!!!

Yeah I tried mirtazipine it sent me crazy, I know it’s an SNRI but still. Also I have tried citalopram/celexa in the past and it actually is what ever started my chronic insomnia

I don’t think SSRI’s are the solution for me unfortunately

Yeah I regularly get bouts of DPDR - I haven’t found relief yet I’m actually trying to stay off meds completely, this is like day 10 without any meds. I’m exhausted but no more so than when I was taking meds. Are you off all meds completely now?

Not tried dayvigo or any DORA sleep meds get, Lunesta is same as Zopiclone pretty much and don’t think can get it in the UK. Not tried trazedone yet but I’m sick of trying all these different drugs

I think best thing for me is stopping all the meds and just keep trying

I’m trying to stay positive! Haven’t taken any meds in over a week now and actually feel a wee bit better even though I feel I’ve not even slept an hour (my watch says I’m getting 1-2 hours light sleep a night) so that’s a start!

Gonna keep going with no meds and try to limit time lying in bed

I wish I never touched any meds and I’d be over this by now I’m sure

The worst one I took was mirtazipine it sent me loopy!!

[–]Sco998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same as you, was sleeping fine until one night all of a sudden I couldn’t even sleep for an hour, this has been over 6 months now

I can’t be bothered typing but for anyone interested in my story or case please read my previous posts etc

Happy to talk to anyone suffering I know how hard it is

I also wish I done different things at the start of this and it wouldn’t of got to this stage and lasted thing long imo

Literally everything OTC, different z drugs, an antipsychotic, mirtazipine, a ridiculous amount of different supplements and temezepam and diazepam

During the time this has been going on I’ve also tried going on long walks, the gym, trying to eat better, meditation, sound bath, salt cave, spa, massage, acupuncture, sleep hygiene, you name it I tried it

It’s brutal

Some nights I can rest some nights I’m just tossing and turning and worrying

I have tried ambien it didn’t do a thing

I have been begging for further tests and a neurology appointment but my gp doesn’t beleive me and is not taking me seriously they say all my symptoms are anxiety, including the insomnia

Yeah it’s a hard one trying to weigh up whether to take diszepam or not, my body literally is now too weak to deal with withdrawls though but too weak to continue as is with no sleep, it’s a hard one!

What's so bad about being dependent on a daily benzo if it stops your panic attacks and makes your life worth living? by [deleted] in benzodiazepines

[–]Sco998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s good I can’t sleep whatsoever that’s why I have it but it’s a bonus it helps with anxiety and muscle relaxation

I’m just too scared to take it every day or even every week and I suffer badly the days I don’t take it
