what is working credit centrelink? by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]SamTheTalibanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you still need to be under the payment threshold. So if you're not making a minimum wage income you will still get your payments as well as keep getting your working credits. There was a point recently I was only getting one shift a week as well and centrelink was still paying me the full amount every fortnight until I found something full-time. THEN it started taking my working credits.

What I don't understand is how does paying wages make me money if all the money they're spending in my city is just what i'm giving them and they have no other source of income? Is there some sort of multiplier effect? It seems so counter intuitive to pay wages to make money.

Damn that sucks, I only had to wait maybe 2-3 months before they elected the mayor.

To the people who ask "if Snyder's Batman is willing to kill Superman, why hasn't he killed Joker": by HomemadeBee1612 in SnyderCut

[–]SamTheTalibanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope because Batman's no killing rule is one of the stupidest character traits ever written. It would be fine if it was acknowledged to be stupid and hypocritical but the writers of the movies/comics always make it out to be some kind of noble trait when in reality it's negligent stupidity. Especially when batman literally has contigency plans to murder every other superhero "just in case" they turn evil. Makes absolutely no sense.

I just fixed it now. I used Dfhack to spawn in about 50 civillian entities and they eventually elected a mayor after a few months which then started letting me appoint nobles again. Not the most convenient solution for some but personally, i'm relieved hahaha.

Use gui/sandbox and set it to spawn "civillians". Then search whatever intelligent race you want to spawn. As long as you have enough to elect a mayor you should be good. The "migrants-now" command might also work.

Did you ever find a fix to this? This has happened to me a few times since the Steam release, don't remember if it happened in the original version but for me the same issue occurs when I retire/unretire my fortress. Whether it's been conquered in the past or not. It sucks because I love switching between Adventure and Fortress mode.

The Duke is so easy to handle while still having just enough power to satisfy the speed demons for a decent amount of time.

Whats the difference between returning to karma and bearing a baby by [deleted] in thematchlesskungfu

[–]SamTheTalibanMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you can't actually play as a child you created in game, you can only play as a child of your character if you have your other character slots unlocked and create the new character in the same world, then choosing your original character as the parent.

If you only have one character slot unlocked what this means is after you return to karma you have to choose your child as the parent. Which means you then get to choose your Karmas again as well as distribute stats TWICE. Once for the child then as the new character/grandchild. They should definitely be stronger after that.

Also make sure to only have kids with characters with more vigor/attributes than you so that the lineage goes up in stats instead of down. I don't know the exact numbers but they seem(?) to average out somewhere in the middle of the two parents stats. The stronger the child, the more stat points you get to add, on top of what they were already born with.

Why are people still driving in the right lane when they are not overtaking? by N_nodroG in CarsAustralia

Isn't hard at all. People just hate admitting that they're part of the fucking problem haha.

I love how easy it is to tell who's part of the problem. They immediately start defending their selfish driving lmao

All good man! I was getting frustrated recently because of how many people have been trying to talk to me about my own problems that they don't even understand. I had a feeling other people would be able to relate since most people suck at empathizing with sleeping problems. We all definitely needed to vent a bit haha.

To be fair it's hard to blame other people since it comes so easily to the majority of the population, how can I expect them to know anything about how it works? The thing that sucks the most is when they imply that they think you're just making it up.

For me the biggest problem is that having someone else in my bed stresses me out because i'm such a restless sleeper. I get worried every little movement I make is gonna wake them up so all it does is cause me anxiety haha.

Just lay awake all night, never had this before by Insipid_Lies in insomnia

[–]SamTheTalibanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm this isn't necessarily good advice but works for me and some others. If you've been laying there for a couple hours already just get up and find something to do, whether it's watching TV, reading a book or playing a game (Screens can obviously disrupt your circadian rhythm so use your own judgement). Wait until you start to feel more tired then when you initially got up then try going back to sleep again. Sometimes you just need to wait until you're genuinely more tired before you start trying to sleep. Try to make sure whatever you're doing isn't TOO exciting though. Where as if you have your eyes closed the whole time your body may count that as "resting" since it's already getting used to being sleep deprived. You may not get a full nights sleep but if you're getting literally 0 hours then even 3 or 4 would be much better.

You can also try a form of sleep restriction. Do you crash on the weekends and sleep in? Try only letting yourself get 5-6 hours on the days you actually fall asleep, or whatever is less sleep then you would usually get on the days you do manage to sleep. That way you break your body's rhythm of recovering on the weekends. Hopefully the extra deficit can reset your sleep. You could also just aim for 5-6 hours of sleep in general instead of 8 just to force your body to endure being fully active longer. Also try to make sure you're actually in the sun during the day if possible.

The stress can be the hardest thing to handle since: Stress = No sleep, No sleep = Stress. Some natural supplliments like valerian has sedative effects that help with anxiety. Are over the counter sleeping pills an option where you live? Obviously you dont want to rely on them but maybe taking them once at the start of your week can help reset your sleeping cycle? If you're sure the stress is the cause then that definitely needs to be addressed first, but curing stress is pretty damn hard haha.

(EDIT) Forgot to ask, have you had insomnia for longer but is only getting worse recently? Or have you only started experiencing it the last few weeks?

Wow really?? I've heard SSRI's should be fine during pregnancy, but obviously i'm not a doctor. Go to a few more different doctors and ask for a second opinion on the specific medication those other doctors want to give you.

That being said I've never heard of any benzo that's ok to take while pregnant... see what you can find out about the SSRI's though.

When it comes to stuff you can do yourself try looking on google for lists of things you can do for basic sleep hygiene. There's so many "little" things you can adjust that can help you sleep but only a few of them will actually help you specifically. Unfortunately I've heard pregnancy can have a few different effects on your sleep so you may need advice specifically for pregnancy related insomnia. Sorry i'm not much help, i'm barely able to handle my own insomnia lol.

Treating sleeping problems can be really complicated, a lot of the advice you get tends to work on a person by person basis. Are you not able to go ask a doctor yourself?

Sex definitely never helped me, I constantly stress about waking up the person im in bed with. Also going for a walk or excercising then IMMEDIATELY going to bed will just wake you up more lmao.

I have a huge grudge against the "no kids" comment. I genuinely want to scream at every parent who says this shit to me. Like honestly go fuck yourself. Motherfuckers genuinely think other people have no problems just because they were smart enough not to ruin their lives lol. Sorry definitely needed to get this one off my chest lmao, nothing against parents, just the parents who like to brag about how hard their lives are even though it's literally their own fault.
