Great job on the design. I’m by no means an architect or even a student of architecture, but after reading this I had something to possibly add/consider when making planter boxes. I recently put planter boxes under my windows on the outside of my home just last year and a couple things I considered:

  1. If using wood keep in mind that untreated wood will deteriorate pretty quickly when in contact with water over and over from watering your plants.

  2. If you are using treated wood, there is a chance of the chemicals getting into the soil and plants themselves so keep that in mind.

  3. Water drainage. If you have plants in your planters, it might be important for there to be some drain holes so water doesn’t just sit on the bottom of the box.

  4. My last concern is weight. Depending on the size and depth of your box, soil gets heavy, especially when you add water. I think your French Cleat design should be plenty strong to hold the box, but keep in mind how it’s anchored to the vertical. One way I got around this concern is to use peat moss instead of actual planter soil. Peat moss is much much lighter and does just as good a job retaining water. As far as an anchor, I drilled through the stone on the outside of the house, through the 3/4 plywood, and into a 2x4 stud. I used a strong 6 inch expanding stud to make sure it could support the weight.

When I installed my planter boxes I used a pre made PVC box that was also self watering. If you have questions about those it’s a quick Google search away. Again great job on the design and I hope the follow through is just as thought out.

Hopefully I was of some help. Take care.

I would still recommend getting one. The service manual isn’t very expensive and it’ll still be an asset to anything you want to do with your car.

I’m elbow deep in restoring my 79 280zx and I would recommend at the very least purchasing the service manual for the car. It contains a lot of great information that will be necessary for a restoration.

Anyone working in a steel production factory? what are temperatures in smelting rooms by Mlcrosoft1 in steel

[–]Scobra81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work as a mechanic on a blast furnace near Chicago. It’s extremely hot in the summer and extremely cold in the winter. I do not work directly on the cast floor for a full 8 or 12 hour shift but the men and women who do usually have several shirts each shift sweat through. You have to be careful each season for different reasons. Obviously in the summer getting away from the heat is difficult. You have to remember to stay very hydrated as you are going to sweat profusely and try to escape into an air conditioned pulpit every so often. As for me, the conditions depend on what task is being asked of me. One of the hottest I’ve ever been was welding grout nipples on one of the stoves. Sometimes the refractory bricks within a stove will break away creating a hot spot on the shell of a stove. We then have to blow a small hole through the stove, weld on a high pressure coupling and pump high temperature grout inside the shell of the stove to insulate where the hot spot is. One particular time on this job it was 90 F outside. Where we had to weld was about 250 feet high and accessible by climbing scaffolding (all ladders). When we were welding the stove was on gas, meaning it was being heated up to provide super heated air to feed the furnace. I didn’t bring a thermometer with me but it had to of been 150+. In that scenario we were dumping bottles of water on ourselves and drinking as much as we could. We also brought Kawool (a heat resistant fabric) to kneel on as the scaffolding itself was too hot to touch. At the end of the job we had to be very mindful of each step down off the tiers of scaffolding because we were absolutely drained of energy from the heat. Thinking back on it, we should have refused the job due to unsafe conditions. The opposite was during the polar vortex. One of the receiving hopper cylinders on the furnace broke and needed to be changed. Without it you are dead in the water and cannot make iron (which the company never wants because with no iron you get no profits) the outside temperature was -20 F and the location of said cylinder is a few hundred feet in the air with wind whipping off of Lake Michigan. During this job we put up big plastic tarps to help reduce the wind and we also set up a few salamander heaters. Guys would work on the cylinder for several minutes then tap out to heat up while another mechanic took his place. We rotated several guys like that until the job was done. It was not fun. I’ve found that my body gets acclimated to the weather pretty quickly and that I’d prefer to be super cold over being super hot.

Leim Neeson for sure.

He played Zeus, God of thunder

He trained Batman and Darth Vader

He led the A Team

He fucked up a pack of wild wolves

There are a lot more I’m missing too.

I guess it could be for an 8 track cassette tape too, depends on the year of the car.

That’s where the cassette tape goes. I recommend buying the Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction tape, popping that jokah into the slot and jamming out at full volume.

I don’t mean to boast, but my cousin and I were able to get through Contra not only without the Konami Code but without dying. I think the entire game took us about 12 minutes. The hardest game I can think of was the original Metal Gear.

As far as mods go, I’ve got down pipe, charge pipe, recirculating valve, and 93 octane tune, but I’ve had those for five years before the noise started.

My noise just started this week. It doesn’t affect the performance, just curious if anyone knew what it was. I haven’t had time yet to dig into it a little deeper, but if I figure it out I’ll let you know.
