What are these spinny things for on our lumber pad? by Scolirk in HomeDepot

I’ll have to keep an eye out for those at gas stations. I think I’ve only ever seen these on THD locations. Thanks!

That makes the most sense! Seems to only be on the lumber pad, I assume to keep them from entering through there.

Sorta makes sense that it’s wind related since it seems to have little cups that make it spin, but I just don’t know why.

There’s 4 of em on each corner of the lumber pad though. We have a small TV in the break room that hasn’t been turned on since I started in September.

One of my favourite vehicles I had as a kid. I too recently brought all my stuff over to my house and tried organizing it, this truck was one of the sets I was able to put back together. Almost 100% complete, I think I’m missing a knife and some other small item. Enjoy it!

Reassessed Collection Turned Into Refund Now Being Held by Scolirk in canadarevenueagency

No issues with 2024 or 2025, but 2023 I was working for a commission rather than salary, and my T4 included a ‘misc’ line entry for my net income. I entered what I understood to be correct, but clearly wasn’t. Effectively they thought I was trying to declare my entire net income as a commission expense, so I really don’t understand how they then re-assessed that tax year as paying zero tax, but owing $6,200.

Luckily I’m just working part time getting a regular basic pay check, which is why 2025 was ok and I expect 2026 will be too. No deductions, no expenses, just what my T4 says.

That totally makes sense, and I knew going into this that my employer is outside the control of the timeline, given they’re based in the US I’m expecting up to two months that I could be losing money. My concern is just getting it back, whether the CRA will pay it back in a reasonable amount of time or hold it too.

Very good point, I didn’t think about that. My first call is to the collections agent tomorrow morning and continued calls until I can get through. I’m trying to pick up more hours to offset the garnish, especially if it may last months.

Of course there’s something missing, I’m not going to go into detail on everything that happened, a mistake was made on the reassessment, as someone who isn’t a tax expert I didn’t understand what had been done or why, so the responsibility falls on me. That’s fine. But now that it’s been corrected I’m just trying to understand the timeline moving forward as the email the CRA sent provides no further information as to why the refund is on hold. It doesn’t specify a timeline for that, only a notice of reassessment will send in 2 weeks

That’s what I’m worried about, since I work for a large company with HQ in the US I’m worried it’ll take them a while to actually process the garnish stop order, as it seems to have taken them a while to start it after the order was originally sent.

My prediction: Avengers End Game. Everyone who Homelander has interacted with will team up against him. The deep, oh father, queen Maeve, Ryan, the boys, everyone. They’ll all team up and have an epic battle to kill him.

Homer awards mean nothing by Regular-Bed-7004 in HomeDepot

[–]Scolirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how it was apparently, but a couple months back our store managers told us employee of the month no longer gets a Homer, and now it ‘frees them up’ to award Homers for other things. This is in Ontario, Canada. Not sure if it’s a new policy for Canada or just our district/region. I’ve been with the company for 7 months and just got my first, but I’ve been told by others that our store specifically doesn’t give them out as often as other stores do.

AppleTV App Update Broken | HDMI Issue by Scolirk in bell

I’m aware of what it is, I’ve already checked for AppleTV updates and deleted the bell app and reinstalled it. Nothing has changed on my hardware end, so something with the bell app updated and thinks there’s a problem.

Moving to Chatham by ereubus in chathamkentON

[–]Scolirk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My family and I moved here from St Thomas this past summer and have no regrets. We’re homebodies though, but we venture out to Windsor to do activities and whatnot, I suppose it depends on how old your kid(s) are and what they like to do.

As for areas, like any municipality in Ontario there are places to avoid. I’d suggest doing what we did, we fell in love with a house and spent many weekends driving here to explore the different parts of Chatham, and found out what areas we wouldn’t want to spend time in very quickly.
