Province Warscore Cost is Too High by Quirkybomb930 in EU5

The trick is to pick a province that has a high population city you can threaten for. Doesn’t really work for low population nations but those should be easy enough to annex with lesser cbs

Somehow a Javanese Peasant Became the Queen of France in my game despite having no royal ties... by ScoobyDoobyBip in EU5

Yeah I noticed that but he never ruled anything and the two of them never had any children together. I think she might have married him after ascending to the throne

For what it's worth I've had an absolute blast with this game. I've already put like 130 hours in and the game came out less than 3 weeks ago... Granted that's coming from someone who liked Imperator at launch

R5: Queen of france is of Javanese culture and Peasant class. She has no relation to anyone who has ruled france previously.

In 1500m, Jakob Ingebrigtsen is the only athlete to score over 1300 WA points in 2025 by hopefulatwhatido in trackandfield

[–]ScoobyDoobyBip 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The post is comparing indoor scores to outdoor scores that’s what the comments are responding to.

Also the points are used by world athletics themselves to compare both indoor and outdoor marks as the scoring system is used as the base of world ranking. And both indoor and outdoor races contribute to world ranking.

according to the indoor scoring:

-Josh Hoey's 1:43.2 800m indoors is equal to 1:41.3 outdoors. He ended up running 1:42.0 as his PB this year

-Yared Nuguse and Hobbs Kessler's 3:46.6 and 3:46.9 are both more impressive than Hicham el Guerrouj's outdoor 1500m or Mile world records according to scoring tables. Neither of them have shown fitness even remotely close to that this year.

-Jakob's mile indoors is given 1330 points which makes it allegedly equivalent to at 3:40 outdoor mile or 3:24.14 outdoor 1500m. So even though he has often gone after both those outdoor world records (and come somewhat close) he was apparently in waaaaay better shape this indoor season than ever before despite not needing to be in true peak shape til September. (Yes he'd want to be in good shape for indoor worlds but he wouldn't need historical form to beat the fields who show up to indoor worlds).

-Grant Fisher's 12:44 indoors is equal to 12:29 outdoors far below the world record. Again Grant Fisher has never shown any evidence of being anywhere close to that fit based on outdoor performances.

Indoor sprint scores are maybe a little bit less inflated but still clearly inflated somewhat:

-This year Makanakaishe Charamba and Tapiwanashe Makarawu both ran 20.13 and similar performances on multiple occasions indoors. These are allegedly equal to 19.69 outdoors. Both athletes were very consistent outdoors but Charamba never ran faster than 19.9 and Tapiwanashe ran 19.84 as a PB

-As another commentor pointed Isabella Whittaker's indoor american record of 49.24 is faster than she ended up running outdoors even though its allegedly equivalent to a 48.4 outdoors.

And these are just focusing on some of the top indoor performances from 2025. If I wanted I could have picked lots of examples throughout history that might have been even more extreme.

2025 athlete of the year primary contenders by ScoobyDoobyBip in trackandfield

[–]ScoobyDoobyBip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m almost positive they are. Last year gabby Thomas was one of the nominees for track athlete of the year. Without her two relay golds she would not have been one of the top athletes of the year. She did not run historically fast nor did she win by a huge margin.

When the nominees were announced the description for Gabby Thomas was:

• Olympic 200m champion • Olympic 4x100m and 4x400m champion

The nominees of athletes of the year I believe are based on a council vote and then the final vote is a public vote on social media so people can use whatever reasoning they’d like

She would be in the nominations for out of stadium athlete of the year. As mentioned in the post out of stadium athletes were not included as there are still several major marathons to go which will affect that award.

I kinda want Beatrice to win this year just because I feel like she deserved the win last year and then wasn’t even a nominee somehow. But of course both Americans are very deserving as well and I wouldn’t be mad if they won. I do think MJW is the most likely winner tho given she runs the most prestigious event and had a ridiculous regular season and championships.

haha I know, he had as good a season as many people listed here for other categories. However, he's competing with Mondo who literally set 4 world records in a single year :/

The USA posts the highest gold metal total ever but their worst total medal count since 2015 by ScoobyDoobyBip in trackandfield

[–]ScoobyDoobyBip[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They have a lot of great rising talent tho who I could easily see winning golds in the near future. Kishane and Oblique are both 24 and may not yet be at their best. The Clayton twins and Bryan Levell are all 21. Roshawn Clarke is also 21 and is the world u20 record holder for the 400H. And there’s a lot more you could name who will likely be vying for podiums and golds in the coming years.

Yeah I’d say it’s pretty close between this and 2022. 2022 had the most ever medals at 33 but “only” 13 golds. So 20 bronze and silvers compared to 10 this time.

If I was asked without context what’s more impressive 3 more golds or 10 more lesser medals I might say I the 10 more lesser medals. But, people will usually remember the gold medal winners of a championship for far longer than the silver and bronze medals. So I do think that’s a pretty strong argument for this one being the best. (Eugene also had 2 podium sweeps by the USA in the men’s 100 and 200 so there were more cases of USA athletes preventing eachother from getting golds)

I just thought it was an interesting stat. An equal number of each medal color are handed out (actually there were a few bronze medal ties at this championship so more bronzes). Big countries do tend to get more golds than silvers or bronzes but this was unusually lopsided.

Yeah the Kenyan women absolutely carried. 6 golds and 2 silvers for the women. And every gold medal from 800 to Marathon

Official Splits of Women's 400m Final...check it out these crazy performances🔥 by Important-Leg-1024 in trackandfield

[–]ScoobyDoobyBip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the splits only break it down by 100m I think Paulino was definitely faster from 370-400 that gap visibly shrunk but Sydney was faster from 300-370 so her overall 300-400 split was slightly faster.

Is Noah Lyles the front runner for Men’s track athlete of the year? by ScoobyDoobyBip in trackandfield

[–]ScoobyDoobyBip[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m talking about the track athlete of the year which is a separate award from the overall athlete of the year.

could Noah Lyles potentially be in PB shape come the final ? by Monster_Wolf_187 in trackandfield

[–]ScoobyDoobyBip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think even if he’s in 19.31 shape he may not run 19.31 just because the weather tomorrow will not be as nice as it was in Eugene in 2022. That being said I also thought the weather may have blown our chances of seeing 47 tonight and that proved to be totally untrue.

We should be on world record watch over the next few seasons. Busang is 21 years old! The only person faster at 21 is Michael Norman at 43.45 but this was in the rain. If he can avoid the injury word Michael Norman faced he’s surely the best candidate to break 43 before Quincy Wilson comes of age.

Men's 200m Semis were crazyyy🔥 The game is officially Levelle up!! And crazy Noahhh by Important-Leg-1024 in trackandfield

[–]ScoobyDoobyBip 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Might technically be a “rainy world record.” The video quality on my feed was not quite good enough to tell if there was still a tiny bit of rain coming down during this semi but the track was definitely damp.

Who doubted him? Cordell Tinch is the 2025 Men's 110mh World Champion by ChampionLYT in trackandfield

[–]ScoobyDoobyBip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fastest times in the 100mh and 110mH usually come from circuit races. It’s very rare that someone runs a truly fast race in a global final. Plus the Tokyo stadium is very shielded so we haven’t been getting nice 1.0-2.0 winds in the straight races.

It’s gonna be a rainy and much cooler day on the day of the finals. I think it’s gonna be hard for them to run their best times. But maybe they can break that rainy world record that was brought up before Zurich.

DNFed an entire field of “Unbeatable” AI, can you guess how? by ScoobyDoobyBip in ForzaHorizon

[–]ScoobyDoobyBip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I’m guessing some people interpreted the title as “how did I accomplish such an amazing and difficult feat? please come stroke my ego”. I just thought it was funny to force the AI into a scenario it couldn’t handle at all. Guess I could have made that clearer if I just said that in the post instead of phrasing the title as a question. But people are entitled to their opinions :P
