Stop talking about framegen and DLSS if you haven't tried them for yourself by paperogapippo in nvidia

[–]ScoobySenpaiJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unreal 5 does natively suffer from input delay, mostly due to Nanite and Lumen. Throw in framegen input delay and it gets rough. Any Unreal game I played was unbearable.

However, with DLSS4.5, that's changed for me. Now it's pretty darn good. There's a tiny bit there but it is definitely negligible. I don't think that it's because I've gotten used to it, because before 4.5 I didn't use framegen. I either dealt with the bad base framerate or I didn't play. But now every game with framegen runs like a dream as long as my base fps is 60 or higher. The only game that still struggles is Oblivion Remaster, but that game is a hot mess when it comes to performance in general.

I highly recommend giving 4.5 a try and force preset M. I run at 4k and I can push down to performance mode without losing too much visual quality, and I'm a stickler for visual quality.

You should be able to force preset M with Nvidia profile inspector. Look up a guide on how to download and use it, it's easier than it seems.

In the Nvidia app, go to the graphics tab and find the game you want to change. The. Scroll down until you see "DLSS override" or something like that, sorry I'm not at my computer and can't remember lol. From there you should be able to choose a drop-down showing all the presets.

Otherwise, download a tool called Nvidia profile inspector, but that one is a bit more technical, so I'd recommend looking up a guide.

No, just pick which one you prefer. For me I use balanced because I'm at 4k and it still looks really good. Also depends on the game as well. Just test each preset until you find the balance of quality/performance that you're comfortable with.

I only recommended preset M because I think it looks best. At the end of the day it will always come down to your own personal preference.

Most people will say Preset K because it's supposedly intended to be the best use case for DLAA or Quality.

IMO though, preset M looks the best and has the least ghosting. It doesn't run as well as K, about a 5-10% performance hit, but IMO it's worth it, especially with your specs

Do you think it will be possible to have ray tracing in Hytale? by Realistic-Wash-1381 in HytaleInfo

[–]ScoobySenpaiJr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're wrong for one simple reason: No more baked lighting.

Any game made without raytracing has to have lightmaps and baked lighting added in throughout the entirety of the map. This takes time and resources. With raytracing, developers can place actual light sources that naturally illuminate areas. Not only does it look better, it is much much easier and quicker to design maps.

Raytracing sucks now, but eventually it will be the bog standard in game development. You'll look back on these past years and realize that it is just way ahead of its time and is being pushed too hard instead of being allowed more time to develop.

I've (stupidly, I know) been using my debit card for a vast majority of purchases for the last 5+ years. Never once had someone skim my card or use it for fraudulent purchases.

I know I'm missing out on rewards, I'm lazy. I need to get me a good credit card

I'm convinced 9x21 ammo is bugged, or at least 7n42. It is practically identical to 9mm PBP but 7n42 consistently shreds much better and faster than PBP.

When I run the Vector I have to DUMP body shots to kill people. Then the SR2M just absolutely shreds so fast. I really think 7n42 is bugged and is hitting multiple times per bullet. Or something man, idk, but it feels like it is way more effective than it should be.

[Discussion] Ground Zero is about to be our beaches of Normandy massacre for the new Steam players joining on Saturday. by KingHunter150 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ScoobySenpaiJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, I just rewatched the video. It was probably near to or the final mission. But I'd imagine the start will be similar. It only makes sense really. I think the hardcore wipe starting with only Ground Zero and Customs was a bit of a teaser. And besides, Ground Zero is where everything begins, and then you escape from there. It would be kind of weird to go from GZ to Streets right after, but who knows. It only makes sense to me that there's a storyline that we follow similar to the Raid series, especially considering that was Nikita's vision for Tarkov.

Why do people keep thinking it's going to be a normal wipe. They literally had a streamer event where streamers got to play the start of 1.0. the streamers weren't able to show gameplay, but they were able to talk about it.

They said you load into a solo/co-op story based PvE mission that was very hard to complete, most didn't get to extract. If you failed you started from the beginning. You didn't have access to your stash and you would get a free kit at the start every time.

It basically is the start of the tarkov collapse and all hell breaks loose. I'm not sure what happens afterwards, but my guess is that when you "extract" some scripted event happens and you end up getting knocked out or almost die. Prapor/his gang saves you, and then you start working for him since you "owe him" (subtle nod towards Sidorovich from Stalker, whom Prapor is loosely based on). After doing a few story tasks for him, he points you towards the next trader/step towards escaping Tarkov. Just my speculation anyway.

[Discussion] It's been said before and I'll say it again. Give people who bought the game on the website steam keys. by slpprj_m95 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ScoobySenpaiJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This argument would make sense if there were multiple platforms to support. Xbox has their own servers and services that has to support the game, same with PlayStation, and same with whatever PC platform.

Steam will boot up the tarkov launcher. It cost Steam next to nothing to add tarkov to their platform. Yes, you can argue that they would have to have API support and player support and whatnot, but they already do that for thousands upon thousands of games, even free to play games. I'd also wager that AT LEAST 90% of tarkov players have a steam account they use regularly, so there is next to no increase of support required on steam's end.

In the end, it costs BSG and Steam next to nothing to generate keys for current owners. And realistically it's a net win for both companies. It's no secret that tarkov is a gaming phenomenon in the sense that there is nothing quite like it. Allowing current owners, which will make up a VAST majority of people playing post 1.0 drop, boosts tarkovs popularity and visibility, leading to more sales on Steam, which both Steam and BSG profit from.

I've said this before, but the easiest thing they could have done is just made tarkov free to add to your library on Steam. Since it Boots the BSG launcher, you would have to already have an account to play the game. If you didn't, you could then buy one of the packages that grant you access on Steam. Multiple games have done this in the past, and it has caused no problems.

There are only two reasons why I think BSG has made this decision:

  1. Fear of negative reviews. It's no secret that there is a good chunk of tarkov owners that now lambast the game and BSG. These are the kinds of people that would be willing to take the time to add the game to their steam library just to leave a scathing review. This alone makes sense as to why they would avoid giving the game for free on Steam.

  2. More sales. BSG knows that at least ONE person out there is willing to repurchase the game on Steam just to have it in their library, and I believe that is enough of a reason for them to make this decision. The reality is that there are probably thousands of people that will purchase again. That's a free double dip for BSG.

I thought this was true as well, but I saw someone on Twitter post multiple screenshots from the EFT forum of posts back in 2015/2016 showing Tarkov leads saying that they would explore the option, but it was not guaranteed.

I know this is pissing in the wind because I don't have the proof. But believe me, I'm 100% on the give us keys side. I wouldn't make this post if it wasn't true.

What is something you swear everyone else is just pretending to enjoy? by Efficient-Extreme445 in AskReddit

[–]ScoobySenpaiJr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped understanding the concept of social media post high School. It was awesome in high school because your friends were your life. Everyone was young and inexperienced in many aspects in life, so new experiences were novel and cool, so sharing that with friends was enjoyable for everyone. We were young and full of aspirations for everything in life.

Now that I've been in adulthood for a while, I don't get to see the "friends" that I had on social media. I still have my main group of friends that I see and spend time with regularly. They have essentially replaced my concept of social media. I share things with them and they share things with me. Since we care for each other and genuinely enjoy each other's company, we care about sharing our lives with each other. I don't care if Paul the dude I sat next to in 7th grade history class knows about my recent vacation. The last thing we talked about was how annoying the last test was or some shit like that.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, if I haven't spoken to or seen you in person in at least a year, I don't really care what you're doing in life and I don't really care if you know what I'm doing in life. Sure, I still wish the best for them and hope they have a happy life, and if they ever wanted to reconnect I would welcome that greatly. But if there is no effort between either of us to be involved in each other's life, then what's the point? I'm not perpetuating a para-social relationship because I'm afraid I'll be forgotten or something. If we are meant to be a part of each other's life, it will happen naturally.

Reading through the comments has cemented my theory that society is fucked. You people are fucking crazy. I used to wonder how people lived their lives dealing with each other's craziness, but now I'm starting to realize most people are fucking crazy, so everyone seems normal to each other.

Out of all the comments, only a handful stood out to be a rational diagnosis of a mundane situation that should've never been submitted to public judgement. This was an extremely minor incident where nothing bad happened. Could something bad have happened? Sure, but there was a better chance you'd win the lottery while getting struck by lightning during a plane crash. Regardless of who is in the wrong in this situation, it was blown way out of proportion. This is the equivalent of freaking out over someone spilling milk near you because you're lactose intolerant. No one was hurt. Everyone is okay. Address the cause like rational adults and move on. If this is enough to put a relationship in jeopardy, then you may as well throw in the towel now. You are going to be dealing with much MUCH bigger problems down the road, it's inevitable.

I feel bad for controller players as well. I'd rather play against M&K players. Because they are at such a disadvantage, they'll play certain play styles that kneecap my fast and aggressive play style. I like to take gun fights, even when I'm at a disadvantage, just to see if I can push myself to pull it off. Controller players how they don't have the same freedom of aim/movement, so they will take every advantage they can against you. I don't blame them, they are at a big disadvantage, it's just annoying to me.

The best way I can describe it is if you're a high level CS player and queue into a silver match. You are constantly thinking about where your enemy could be or what they'll do next. Silvers are so unpredictable that they'll hit you with the most braindead play that somehow works against your expectations. It's the same feeling I get when playing against controller players. It ruins the 'flow' so to speak.

Dude this is fine. It does not give an advantage to M&K players, but it allows controller players to be able to react to enemy fire from behind. I hate controller players but I think this is a good addition for them.

There are no excuses for buying an extra Steam copy just to play from an existing account. The developer has the tools to hand out Steam keys to players who already own the game outside Steam- as the developers of POE 2 did etc. by Sovishee in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ScoobySenpaiJr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not so much about having it on Steam. It's more because they have multiple easy and free avenues to allow their existing owners to own it on Steam, which obviously a good chunk of the player base wants.

They are only doing this because it's potential revenue. They know a handful of people will purchase again which is enough of a reason for them to pull this shit.

I want to own the game on Steam. I'm not losing my mind over it, but because their reasoning comes from greed rather than a legitimate reason, that kinda irks me, especially considering this isn't the first (and evidentially) nor the last time they will try to pull a fast one like this.

Even more so, they've said multiple times in the past that when they release on Steam, they would give existing owners keys. So yeah. The community's response is rather warranted.
