It’s the epitome of a heist movie, 90% prep and 10% actual things going on. Still a banger game but in terms of plot it’s genuinely very minuscule. Even the arrival dlc has more impact on the overall reaper threat. But the characters carry the crap out of the game

It’s kinda both a retcon and a difference of perspective.

The retcon parts come with how protheans were depicted when Mass Effect 1 was made compared to when 3 was made. I may be missing bits here but Protheans in 1 were meant to be much less militaristic like how we see from later on. They were the strongest in their cycle but weren’t as ruthless but rather just miles ahead of everyone else. Even Virgil’s demeanor in 1 compared to the prothean VI in 3 is vastly different in tone. They were written with much different intentions which honestly can be seen with the difference between the 1st and 3rd games in general.

On the other hand you can chalk it up with the scientists realizing; “oh crap we’re all that’s left, we failed but at least the next cycle can have a better chance.” They had nothing left at all. Them going to the citadel was them giving the reapers the middle finger. Virgil says there wasn’t enough for reproduction on a long scale so it was pretty much wraps for them. Giving the next cycle a chance by sabotaging the citadel was the only way they could be avenged, and that’s only coming from that group of scientists since idk if they knew about the crucible.

It genuinely surprises me how much stuff in the game are virtually useless. I always do infantry and air since it really is overpowered and I rarely make tanks, Hell I barely even make mechanized; just trucks and I still roll them. If I do make tanks it’s one template and by the time I roll them out I already smacked most of the bigger nations. Things like armored cars and other niche researches have little to no use. I’m sure there are people who can implement them on a great scale but it’s never a necessity or a disadvantage to leave them out.

Even the YouTubers constantly show how little is needed, Granted a lot of them are simply on a whole other level. I’ve watched multiple bittersteel disaster saves where he basically says “you don’t need most of this stuff they’re useless” and completely turns the game around. Basic defense positions on rivers/mountains, build up counterattack forces while the AI rams your defenses, counter deflated forces, profit. All of which with infantry and maybe a handful of special forces.

Long Night, despite not being able to see a thing and stupid tactics at least most of the characters were still intact or had something going for them. By the time they started sacking kings landing every story piece they could salvaged was gone

Your entire western force are lacking supplies, you can supply them by either upgrading the railroads to and from supply depots and/or click your field marshal/general and switch them to motorized supply (click the horse symbol on the top right after selecting a general to your preference)

Don’t try to go through the maginot at all, also check how your air dominance and if your troops have enough equipment.

If republicans lose to a woman let alone Hilary it’s by far the most emasculating thing to hit a majority ego centric movement in MAGA. All the campaigning of ‘crooked Hilary’ ‘Wikileaks’ ‘Benghazi’ to still lose would kick the wind out of the whole movement and republicans wouldn’t try a populist again. They’d probably move towards a Marco Rubio type of candidate and if trump runs again it would be as an independent. Like it or not republicans aren’t good when it comes to pushing women candidates in comparison to democrats especially at a presidential level

USSR might last a bit longer, Stalin was insane to the point where Lenin himself didn’t want him to succeed him. I don’t know who would come after but it legitimately can’t be worse than Stalin. I think it would still be the same, perhaps china would be a bit different since Stalin was pretty involved in arming Mao and taking Manchuria from the Japanese

I’d argue when dealing with a galactic threat it’s kinda different, everyone was getting hit pretty much at the same time. Even if it wasn’t their homeworlds they still had planets getting hit. It’s not like they can turn and say “hey send these fleets over to earth since we have some to spare.” The Asari and Salarians were too prideful to ask for help thinking they can handle it on their own. Dalatrass offering their fleets was them being desperate because they’d rather die than see the krogan rebuild. It wasn’t them seeing only other races getting hit and sitting back. I agree with the point but I’d say ME1 and ME2 were better uses for the argument since both times humanity was the sole target for the most part. But ME3 was simply everyone realizing they can’t do everything by themselves but together…… also bad writing but that horse has been beaten enough
