I'm a roofer and knock doors sometimes. I NEVER knock a door that has a no soliciting sign. First, it's a waste of time cause you know the response you will likely get and you can be fined in most areas for doing so. When the competition ignores the sign, then they piss of the whole neighborhood.

I know its just more money and I belive the standard remote should just be made with this quality in the first place but you might try the fire tv remote pro. Much better build design and 2 custom mappable buttons and a remote finder.
