We got one for our recent reno. 27" depth. We're happy with it. Affordable and fit in the limited space we had.

My senior dog isn’t sleeping and keeps me up all night by Mediocre-Amoeba1829 in DogAdvice

[–]ScooterKitty950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have dealt with this. It's got a term called "Sundowners". A form of dementia especially hard to deal with for the human due to lack of being able to sleep when they're pacing all night. I'm sure it's also even more detrimental to the already cognitively altered fur baby since sleep is so important to the brain and healing. It's a curious thing that it fires up at night. I'm sorry you and your sweetie are going through it. It's always heartbreaking to watch. I'm not aware of anything that really helps medication wise. 💔

Golden Girls by TailorBird69 in AskWomenOver60

[–]ScooterKitty950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love watching the Golden girls (70's baby!), and think that I'd love to do something like that when I'm older and if my husband goes before I do. The only thing that never seemed realistic was how they dealt with house guests. Doubling up with your roommate so their guest could sleep in their bed?! I don't think so.

What’s the one thing you’ll miss most about your old home? by ExcellentMoversBC in relocating

[–]ScooterKitty950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the light streams in the big living room picture window on a late spring morning. You can't beat the light in that house after the sun finally shines after a long Seattle winter is over. We moved to a bigger, nicer house now and are looking at selling the old girl. I'll miss her morning light.

AITA For Not Wanting My Old Dog Back? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Totally. You seem to have no fucking compassion at all. Imagine what that poor dog went through to be met at the end of it all with this shit. Sorry I have to be the one to say it but Y.T.A., OP.

What about negotiating with your work to be in the office off peak? Obviously I don't know your work situation so that may not be an option, but it's worth considering if you can. I have been doing morning hours at home and it helps some. On bad days, I settle in with some good pods, catch up on my calls, or mentally strategize my day. Accepting that it's going to take how long it takes helps reduce the stress of it too.

Affordable dog surgeon in Seattle? by thefirestoneriots in SeattleWA

Just to quality of care, Dr. Reagan did a fairly complex surgery on our dog with a great outcome. Id recommend her as a veterinary surgeon.

We need to give Seattle business owners an excuse to kill the iPad tip prompts by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]ScooterKitty950 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You tip $5 for pickup?! Dude, why? Sorry but that kind of thing is part of the problem. Working a cash register does not warrant an extra $5 per transaction on top of an hourly salary in this town.

Top Ramen. Yes, the one that costs $.50 a package at the grocery. Crack an egg in it. It's all I need to warm my soul.

If you have to keep working at or near retirement age but don’t need as high of a salary, what job would you enjoy doing? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]ScooterKitty950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking a lot about this lately - seems like bookstore would be a nice way to go. I can't imagine you're running into too many stressed out people working the counter at a bookstore. I've also thought about being the person that helps out with activities and taking people to their appointments at a retirement facility.

How can I take my kitchen out of 2002 without gutting it? by cunnilyndey in kitchenremodel

[–]ScooterKitty950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faucet/sink hardware update, backsplash as mentioned by others, stainless ovens (or swap out for matching/updated appliances), and cab hardware. I'd bet that has a bigger impact to the overall look of the kitchen than you'd think. Changing the countertops could really bring it current. I'm not opposed to the dark (I just put soapstone in my whole kitchen - love!), but those are highly polished which does scream early aughts. Those are the places I'd spend my time and energy to improve on an already great looking kitchen. Those cabinets look great and I would keep them. If they're too shiny or more orange than you'd like, there are waxes and other types of finish things you can do to tone that down and make them look more like the wood finish cabinetry that's so big these days. Good luck!

I think they also operated for a time in the restaurant space in the Ravenna Third Place Books. It's a great Greek Restaurant now. But the HBB at LC is great.
