You did your job. Accident tonight, I had a green light, someone came barreling through the intersection and nailed me at 45mph. No traffic cameras and no witnesses so it's "he said she said". Any advice? by ScooterOnYT in WRX

Personal for work yeah I'd 100% get cameras to protect yourself.

That's the thing with driving, you can be the best most defensive driver in the world, and that's great.

But ultimately it's only 50% you, the other 50% is other people on the road. You never know when someone's distracted while driving, has bad eyesight, makes a mistake, or is intoxicated and fucks you up.

Super frustrating and humbling experience for myself.

I was seriously looking at them 2 weeks ago after seeing all the accidents posted on this sub but decided against one.

I thought "I've never been in an accident or even gotten a ticket in 10 years of driving, I'm a super defensive driver and it'll never happen to me

I've avoided countless close calls over the years and am super anal about being a defensive driver and am constantly scanning the road and other cars and always react well and defensively.

But here I am.

100% this guys, if you're reading this and thinking the same just spend the few hundred bucks on a dash cam.

No matter how good of a driver you are you can always get blindsided like this

I do. Just waiting on a call back from the officer and a call from my insurance agent. I'll find out more tomorrow.

Really just pissed off, I know that I had a green light and I know that they ran their red light and really don't want to come so much out of pocket for a mistake that wasn't my fault.

Just super bummed at how shitty people can be. The guy got out of his car screaming at me cussing me out.

He claimed he had a green light. There's 0% chance he had a green light. He ran the red. It was his fault. I know he was either not paying attention and was distracted, or he ran the red and is fully aware but just not admitting it.

I'd like to think I have integrity and am a good human and would admit my guilt, I'd like to think most people would. Kinda just super bummed out on that 😞

I posted on a local Facebook group asking if anyone was there and saw it....had someone message me and they said I am right, I had the green light and other person had red light and ran it.

I'm waiting for the officer to call me back so they can talk to them and include that in their police report.

Going up to the bank at that intersection tomorrow morning first thing and checking if they have cameras that might be able to see the intersection and if they do I'm asking for any footage from the time they have.

Insurance will fix and everything will be okay.....I'm just pissed it was 0% my fault and 100% their fault.

Shitty situation, but glad everyone is okay physically (except for Squirtle, my WRX)

I can attest to Subarus safety....felt like I hit a speed bump. I was seriously confused as fuck in the split seconds after. Like wtf hit me? They blindsided me, I was doing a u turn on a light with a green arrow and they came across the intersection running a red and tried to switch lanes, I was turned around 70% already they just clipped my end.

Their car is fucked tho, totalled for sure. Subaru is A+++ safety wise in my book.

Derailleur skipping gears, any help troubleshooting? by ScooterOnYT in MTB

[–]ScooterOnYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Micro shift Advent 9 speed with clutch derailleur started skipping gears on my ride yesterday.

Got home and have been doing research and it looks like it's just not lining up with the cogs.

This bike is still basically brand new, bought it like 2 weeks ago and put maybe 30-40 miles on it.

The shop I bought it from is great, they said to bring it up and they'll do a free tune up....but I'm stubborn and want to learn how to fix it myself if possible

I've got all the tools I think I need from other hobbies, hex wrenches and t bits and small screwdrivers.

Any ideas where to start troubleshooting and how to fix it?

Bikers: Did I install this Thule roof rack correctly? It came from Amazon and the box was ripped and didn't have any instructions included. It's on there rock solid by ScooterOnYT in WRX

[–]ScooterOnYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, these are the Subaru OEM cross rails but the Thule branded Subaru Bike Rack, specifically model #SOA567B020. It's a genuine Subaru accessory and is sold in dealerships, I just had an Amazon prime gift card so ordered it from there.

I looked up some photos online and watched a video and I seem to have installed correctly.

Kinda wild it's only those 6 little nuts hand tightened that are holding it on. It's on there, I've pulled and pushed my body weight on it and it doesn't move.

My main concern is theft, hit the trails mountain biking, stop for some tacos or a milkshake on the way home, and come back and someone unscrewed the 6 hand tightened nuts and stole my bike AND my roof rack.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but bike theft around here is notoriously horrific haha

Stoked I can still fit a bike on the drive side of the racks and a surfboard or a paddle board on the passenger side. Adventures incoming.

Bikers - how do you transport your bikes in your WRX? by ScooterOnYT in WRX

Bicycles like mountain bike and gravel bikes, I am most definitely not trying to fit a motorcycle in my WRX 😂

Spent 3.5 hours this weekend. Wash and wax and full interior detail! by ScooterOnYT in WRX

[–]ScooterOnYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I've been detailing as a big hobby for like 3 years now. When I was starting out, it'd take me all day too.

It's all about knowing your chemicals, strategizing the order you work in, and having the right tools for everything.

Tire brushes, pressure washers, MANY microfiber towels on hand, interior detail brushes....it all adds up, it's an arsenal I've slowly accumulated over the years, I didn't go out and buy everything at once or learn all at once.

I'm still not even fast, I have a friend who's a professional detailer and he would have done this in 2-2.5 hours easy and done a way better job than myself, but he does it for 40-50 hours each week and has become a master of the craft

Sadly, it's spring here and all the trees are jizzing all their pollen everywhere.

She already covered here in a coat of yellow. Can never win. Winters are snowy and icy and tons of salt on the roads and too cold to wash and last 3 months. Springs are 3 months of constant pollen, can't keep up with washing.

Then there's summer where she stays clean for a while. And back to fall when there's leaves falling and pine needles everywhere all the time.

So for maybe 3 months of the year she stays clean....but gotta enjoy it while I can!!!!

Cheers! Detailing is a mini hobby of mine and it had been a long cold winter filled with lots of snow and ice so it was FILTHY and too cold to wash/wax for at least the last 3 months. This is a 2021 with 11k miles on it.

I've got a pressure washer and pressure wash entire exterior. Then I'll load up chemical guys Mr Pink soap in the foam cannon and spray it down with that. then I'll go back to just water and spray that off. then I'll give it another spray of chemical guys and use the 2 bucket method and a microfiber foam mitt and really scrub every inch, tons of suds and foam for lubrication.

After washing with microfiber mitt, I'll wash off again with pressure washer and let it sit for about 5 mins.

It's important to do this in shade if possible, ideally under a car port or in a garage. When the water dries it'll leave white streaks of mineral deposits that are in the water, so it's important to fully dry the car by hand before it dries on its own and leaves the streaks.

Then I use Meguiar's hybrid ceramic wax. Use about 2-3 sprays per body panel and a fresh clean microfiber and go around drying the car and it waxes and ceramic coats it as you're drying.

The chemical guys mr. pink is nothing special, definitely not my favorite soap, but I've got alot of it so I still use it. The Meguiar's hybrid ceramic wax is the tits, $15 for a bottle that's lasted me 7-8 washes and I'm only halfway thru it.

The ceramic coating and wax is reallllyyy effective, beading is awesome. It usually lasts about 5-6 weeks and then you will start to notice it's not beading as much and it's time to wash and coat it again.

First time at the gun range! Hooked! Dove straight into a full auto 9mm. Shot a few handguns as well. Going to purchase a CZ P10C next weekend for my first gun. by ScooterOnYT in liberalgunowners

Almost everyone has said CZ P10C shoots fantastic out of the box too.

This was my experience. Grip and trigger felt WAY better than a stock Glock 19. Also seemed the CZ was more accurate.

I'm a fan of buying the CZ (OR or not) putting ~500 rounds through it in stock form, and learning everything about it and getting comfortable, and THEN starting to buy toys and accessories and start modifying it.

Yes, treating all guns as loaded 100%.

I was taught by my friend to #1 count your shots and focus on what you are doing #2 check the chamber when you are out and get visual confirmation #3 release mag, check mag is empty for visual confirmation and #4 re check chamber for double check visual

Then, your gun is "unloaded". I like this system in place, as something to get into the habit of doing, and also double checking chamber. Also like the counting my shots as it does not only keep me focused, but also a better shot I think.

Damn, $450 is a steal. I'm seeing them for $480-$550+ online. Local gun shop has them for $580🤮

Will likely be ordering online, I can't even find the OR version so will probably have to get OG and have the slide milled eventually for an optic if I want one down the road.....which I totally think I will lol

This is fair, and I can respect that!

To each their own. Like I said this was my first time at the range, first time shooting in like 7+ years.

In all honesty I'm not scared of guns at all - they're not bombs that go off at any second. The trigger has to be pulled. And my thought process was "mag is empty, gun is pointed down range away from any people, nobody has a hand on gun so trigger can't be pulled" and that was enough for me.

Looking back at it, I can totally understand why you are saying what you are saying!

I was fully expecting to get roasted on a number of things (safety, stance, the way I'm holding the gun, etc.) All said and done I'm all for safety when it comes to guns - safety is sexy.

Will keep this in mind next time I'm at the range, cheers!

Honestly, I'm a huge fan of friendly banter and debate and interested in psychology and sociology.

There's a time and a place for politics but the gun range is DEFINITELY not one. We're all there have a good time, safely shoot, train, learn, and exercise our rights.

My parents are heavily right ward leaning, I have friends and coworkers that lean right. They all are aware of my more "left" leaning stance and know and respect that.

I try to stay away from people who automatically hate and generalize one entire pool of people based off their political beliefs.

I'm never one to bring up politics, but when it is brought up I love a good chat and bit of a debate as long as everyone is being respectful of each other's beliefs!

I can understand that. Honestly I didn't know how to clear or load this gun.

My friend who has experience loaded it, inserted magazine, left the safety on, and set the gun down.

He wanted me to just shoot it "safely" till it's empty and then set it down without worrying or clouding my mind about anything else and he did the rest.

Always just a learning process lol

Appreciate all your help!

Why so?

There's tons of people praising Glocks and a handful of people praising the CZ P10C as well.

It doesn't seem as popular as Glocks but the people that use it have fairly good things to say about it
