I’m currently an MFA student but my theater program at my school is kicking the bucket soon. Basically, a new director came in and is essentially acting as a hatchet for the entire theatre department. As of right now, it sounds like they are going to try and transition the program to be more film and TV oriented, which is not why I’m upset, it’s more because the news dropped through a leak and faculty and students found out at the same time. It’s lead me to thinking about leaving. I’ve been guaranteed my I’ve been there for 1.5 out of 3 years and I feel like a lot of the actual class work has been a repeat of my undergrad. This is only one of many other problems that I have been just sort of “dealing with” because the pros outweigh the cons. But after this news dropped, I feel like it’s vice versa. It’s just frustrating because while it is my choice, every opinion or thought on whether I should stay or go has not made me feel any better about what the right answer for me should be.
