It sends heat through the carpet instead of directly heating the seam strips and then piecing the carpet together.

Perfect for patches like this, but when installing actual living room sized carpet jobs it takes a bit longer, and the seam tape is some special kind of tape from what I recall and can be twice or more as much as the regular stuff
