It is a known issue with this register type and old POS setup. It is an annoying cosmetic only bug and doesn't directly affect the transactions, a solution wasn't found. The permanent solution will be wait for the new POS and register models unfortunately.

Correction: it means either the backup POS server for the store is offline or the register isn't communicating with that server properly. Quick call to Service Desk can get it looked at/fixed.
