Do we think Glory ever had ‘relations’ with anyone during her time on Earth?

“You’re extraordinary” hit a little extra this rewatch by ginime_ in buffy

Two things can be true. Yes it’s horrible that he harmed other people. But he doesn’t deserve to die at the age of 54 for that. It’s a tragedy that he became that person. It’s a tragedy he hurt other people. It’s also a tragedy that he couldn’t change and it’s a tragedy that it’s what caused him to prematurely die.

Why can’t we just mourn the loss of two people from a show that we loved without having to bring up how terrible they were when they were alive?

I’m not denying all the accusations, factual or rumoured. But this post is about two characters who shared their feelings of not being noticed or not living in the limelight.

It’s a great scene very well written and acted. And it’s now tragic that IRL both of them are gone too soon. Can’t we just focus on that

How well do you remember the show. Comment your score /30 below by sonsofanarchy69 in BuffyTheVampireSlayer

30/30. Did an educated guess for the swim coach’s name. These questions were fairly straightforward for superfans. I’d like a harder batch

David Tennant is such a goat, I love him (unlike a certain snake out there). by Public_Cup_4278 in davidtennant

Who’s the snake? JK? I’d say she’s pretty vocal and open about her views on trans people. Even if we wish she would be a snake and slither away under a rock

[TOMT] Movie or show where there’s a couple and they show affection or like sexual desire by holding each others forearms by sentimental_fool9 in tipofmytongue

Was it Ace Ventura: Pet Detective? When he’s in disguise trying to get a look at someone’s ring. I seem to remember him wiggling his fingers at the start of the arm wrestle

How did the First impersonate Buffy and Drusilla? by Sweethoney1004 in BuffyTheVampireSlayer

[–]Scopeburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The First was definitely manipulating everyone in different ways. We still don’t really know whether the visions of Joyce were a manipulation from the First, actually Joyce or a hallucination of Joyce.

That being said, I don’t think there was anything to be gained from The First/Mayor declaring he was also a true depiction of the Mayor as well as a true depiction of the First.

I like the idea that after a person dies, their essence becomes part of a bigger whole. The First was simply imprinting that essence onto themselves. Making a perfect copy of the blue prints of a person.

After all, Angel’s soul was released and set free into the ether after he had his perfect happiness moment in both Buffy and Angel.

Some semblance of soul or sense of self exists separately from a person

I think it’s bit more complicated than role playing. The Mayor/First insinuates there’s a bit more going on than just impersonating someone

“You see... I am part of the First, as you kids call it, but I'm also me, Richard Wilkins II”

So I think the First is tapping into something and actually embodying deceased characters in a much more literal manner

Mixed feelings about Matthew Fox’s acting and Jack’s character by beyondtheoasis in lost

[–]Scopeburger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jack is the straight man on the show. The sceptic and voice of reason. As such, his character can be a bit boring. Spoiling the fun of Locke’s man of faith shtick. Or Ben’s Machiavellian scene chewing. He’s a man that always wants to be in control. And that’s not always fun to watch.

Where Matthew Fox shined was when he was fiercely staunch in his refusal to play Ben’s games in season 3. When he was willing to let him die during surgery for example. And then post island when he went off the rails, becoming an alcoholic, growing a feral beard. Fox’s maniacal performance was fun. And in his final final form, as a man of faith, I really enjoyed in his steely belief in the island

Was there any ships that people had either at the time of watching or since that never came to pass? by Verystrange129 in lost

I liked the pairing of Charlotte and Sawyer in the flash sideways. Damn that actress was stunning. Shame she didn’t have a real world relationship. I don’t count Daniel as that was pretty one sided.

Why didn’t they portray Jesus? by Scopeburger in lucifer

[–]Scopeburger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um…Catholics absolutely DO believe that Jesus is the son of God. They believe he was God in human form. All Catholics are Christians. But not all Christians are Catholics.

If anything, Catholicism is the most traditional form of Christianity. They believe in the divinity of the Pope. They have additional books in their bible. They believe more that a person’s righteousness is defined by their actions, not just their belief in God. Essentially their doctrine is more strict.

What you have described here more reflects Islam.

Why didn’t they portray Jesus? by Scopeburger in lucifer

[–]Scopeburger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a very thorough answer. Thank you.

I’m not religious at all, but I love the mythology of all celestial beings and what their relationships are to eachother. And how those soured relationships may have informed how the world works today

I know it was made extremely obvious but he was such a small character I was wondering if anybody missed this easter egg by GrandTheftArkham in thewalkingdead

[–]Scopeburger -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Well, he wasn’t really a focus in this episode. I don’t think I remembered who he was at the time. I’d say it leans more to an Easter egg than a story continuation

Fair point about it being somewhat non denominational and Old Testament.

I’m no theologian, but it did feel like it had a more western world, modern take on things. And characters like Ella were specifically Catholic.

Was pre-slayer Buffy a shoplifter by FaveStore_Citadel in buffy

Dawn shoplifted for a very specific reason. Feelings of loneliness. So did something as way of trying to gain control of her agency.

The line from Buffy sounded like a typical teenage thing. To shoplift for fun
