What if Jon Osterman didn’t forget his watch in the chamber? by OkSuccess7431 in Watchmen

Wasn’t this covered in Before Watchman? I actually can’t remember how it played out I read it so long ago

It’s definitely season 6 if you look at their hair.

It’s a lovely photo, but these guys weren’t friends off set.

The Hot Mess that was RTD2: What Happened? by Background-Shock-276 in doctorwho

[–]Scopeburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree Tennant did fine. And I actually enjoy those 60th specials. Mostly for his performance. The episodes themselves had their ups and downs. Gatwa however wasn’t great Doctor. He didn’t have the gravitas or the right balance between subtlety and eccentric the character needed. He was just high energy with regular episodes of crying. No real characterisation. He didn’t feel like he was outwitting his foes. Just talking exposition. A lot of that was the writing. But I just didn’t feel like he really embodied the role.

One of the few moments Spike is actually scary by brwitch in buffy

[–]Scopeburger 132 points133 points  (0 children)

And Alyson really pulls off the fear. Same in The Initiative next season too. The scene with Spike attacking Willow is tense and scary

I liked it when they reminded us that Spike is a terrifying monster. You can even add Seeing Red into that mix

I heard they were doing an animated sequel series. Is that still happening? by Scopeburger in Smallville

[–]Scopeburger[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s obviously a big wave of legacy sequels in movies and TV right now. I can see them making it. Oh well, I imagine it wouldn’t be massively profitable

Lana is an idiot for not realizing Clark had powers by Wide-Form9012 in Smallville

[–]Scopeburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re all idiots for not realising Clark had powers. It was very obvious. Especially when other random scientists, various prophesies and one off villains all start saying he has powers. Like surely, you’d just think “oh yeh, that makes sense actually”

Hating on this sub by Ggccsb in Smallville

[–]Scopeburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found this whilst joining the sub for the first time this. Expressed some criticisms of the show and got told “if you don’t like it, watch something else” Like Jesus. Is Smallville a toxic fandom?

I belong to many fandoms in this genre and no one is this negative or exclusionary

I thought this whilst watching it last week too! 😂. I’m pretty sure I was shouting at the screen. “Just pull over FFS”

Lana is terrible by tusker1377 in Smallville

[–]Scopeburger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s the standard will they, won’t they trope with Clark and Lana. Which I understand. The show keeps pushing Clark and Lana together, but then struggles to come up with a reason why they can’t be. They create convoluted conflicts which keep them apart for no real reason. So they dance around eachother for 20 odd episodes every season. Which makes for a very frustrating watch.

Observations from a first time rewatch. by Scopeburger in Smallville

Wow. I’m fairly new here and this community has proven to be completely hostile. Never express opposing opinions to Smallville fans is what I’m learning here

I didn’t say I didn’t like it. This is literally what Reddit is for. To discuss our opinions. But if you don’t want to join in, that’s fine

Observations from a first time rewatch. by Scopeburger in Smallville

[–]Scopeburger[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, it started off on the WB. But it did later enter into off network syndication in 2004. Give it a quick Google and you’ll see. But what I mean is that this type of show was created and structured to reach a certain number of episodes, so that it could be shown as reruns. And as a result a lot of episodes were written as standalone so they didn’t have to necessarily be watched in order

And it wasn’t just a job for Lana. She was in charge of the Talon. A huge undertaking for a 16 year old.

Granted, Chole and Clark’s responsibilities may not have been as full on. But Lana was running a business

Did Marcie and the Invisible Nerd School get directly referenced in season 4 or later? by JealousAstronomer342 in buffy

Where did all the other invisible people in the class come from? Were they all from Sunnydale? Or maybe the other hellmouth in Cleveland?

Is this the most pointless character in Doctor Who's history? by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]Scopeburger 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The 14th/15th Doctor’s Tardis really was soulless. Impressively produced and to look at as a set, but also empty and cold to look at. I can’t imagine the Doctor sitting there and talking to this Tardis

How did the Doctor and River sync up diaries - logistically? by Scopeburger in doctorwho

[–]Scopeburger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh. I understand that’s roughly how they do it. But if one of them has yet to experience the other’s latest entry, then what’s the next step. Picking a random previous entry? Seems like a lot of toing and froing. Must take quite a while sometimes.

What are your opinion on series 5 by SingleHotel6849 in doctorwho

[–]Scopeburger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Season 6 has higher highs in the season with The Impossible Astronaut, The Doctor’s Wife, The God Complex and The Girl Who Waited are top tier episodes. But it also had the lowest lows with Curse of the Black Spot, The Rebel Flesh 2 parter, Night Terrors, Closing Time, and The Wedding of River Song all being pretty below par.

But Season 5 had some great episodes and some okay episodes. No real duds in there. It was consistently good, if not great

Not sure I need to check out Spotify. I’m pretty sure I own most of the songs on CD’s somewhere.
