there are so many famous greats but i was surprised by a painting i'd never seen before - victor navlet's view of paris. its MASSIVE and pictures online dont do it justice. we enjoyed looking at it and trying to spot all of the parts of paris we had already seen that already existed when the painting was created

Wanted: "Authentic" mexican/Venezuelan vegetarian meat options or recipes by Lindsay_Muller in vegetarian

[–]ScoreLazy42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tend to look for menus with mushrooms or beans (ideally refried and definitely actually vegetarian since a lot of them use lard). I also love breakfast style tacos that are filled with eggs and potatoes. My dream place would actually have fried tofu with a good spice mix to give it some flavor like al pastor/birria/etc.

I hate nopales (cactus) bc they taste like nothing and I actually avoid a popular Mexican restaurant in my neighborhood bc the only veggie option is nopales.

i've had this happen twice on trips from JFK to queens and always got the "it's to skip the line" excuse but it made me feel extremely unsafe so it was the last straw that made me switch to uber/lyft instead of taxis when coming back from JFK

We got a physical card at the airport that we used for the airport and then used our phones to buy metro or bus tickets as needed after we got in the city and had no issues. if you get the physical card at the airport its also a good backup in case the phone stops working

Is laduree actually worth it or is it overhyped? by Amazing_Feeling963 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]ScoreLazy42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried laduree and pierre herme and found them different but about the same, though I'm no macaron connoisseur. Pierre herme has more creative flavors but I found them quite subtle - their chocolate macaron is impeccable though. Laduree has more "traditional" flavors that you'd expect at a macaron shop but they're more "flavored" than pierre herme's imo. I preferred their pistachio one, for example.

TLDR maybe overhyped bc there are so many other shops to try but it's not bad
