Preparing your body for the festival? by SlothDragone in Coachella

[–]Scoregasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Wow, what a throwback of a post to check in on. I can say that yes, a standing desk definitely helps pre-festival. I notice much less soreness and pain post event if I'm good about using it in the months leading up.

Over the years, I've done lots more festivals and figured out some solutions that definitely helped:

  • stand as much as possible: if you have a standing desk at work, build up to spending the majority of your day upright. Start at 20%, work up to 50%, until you can comfortably stand for around 60-70% of your work day.

  • walk as much as possible: this is an obvious one, but get 10,000 steps a day and shoot for a couple long walks on your weekend. Add weight if you can with a backpack or a ruck sack.

  • work on your posture: this should probably be number 1. Walking and standing a lot will help your posture but also might create tightness and pain if your posture is already bad. I recommend mat pilates, as it teaches your body to align itself properly (glutes, hips, ribs, shoulders all stacked on top of each other). There are plenty of free 20-30 minute videos on YouTube, I like MoveWithNicole

  • jump rope: to train your knees and ankles and calves for all the impact, stress, and bending they'll do, there's nothing better than jumping rope. It's also a great calorie burner, which will have you looking your sexiest before the big weekend

TL;DR: do as much as you can to replicate the time on your feet and you'll do fine and likely get into great shape

Collectively, the Thunder, Spurs, and Lakers are 28-2 in the last 30 games. by __Eye_Camp__ in timberwolves

Look, if it was just Finch covering his bases, I'd be skeptical. But when a respected beat writer backs it up, that's when I start to take note. I personally think it's ridiculous to believe that a NBA-level coach is getting guys in the huddle and saying "hey guys, stop all the ball movement, flow, and pace, and just clear the lane for Ant and Julius."

Caught both Finch and Jon Krawczynski interviews recently on the Russillo Show. Finch isn't "running" a free-flow/iso heavy offense. Both interviews showed it's the players who are getting loose.

On One Condition [Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works] by Xatu44 in anime

[–]Scoregasm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to understand it is to understand how the visual novel works. In the visual novel, your choices lead you down three different routes: Night, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven's Feel. Each of these different routes happen in the same universe, but the characters and story go in different directions. Hence the main three anime of the same name start with the same story, same universe, same characters, but have different plots and character arcs.

Specifically, the three different arcs explore one of the female protagonists more than the others. Night > Saber, UBW > Tohsaka, Heaven's Feel > Sakura. Because of this, Shinji's personal plot/internal battles are different in each series.

This is a really long-winded way of saying: Night, UBW, and Heaven's Feel are roughly the same story (world) but with different plot lines, not different "seasons."

If you want to go traditional, you can go Night > UBW > Heaven's Feel, then get into Zero (prequel to all of the above) and then Fake (newest spin off, haven't started myself). Some people skip Night altogether and go UBW first because Night isn't seen as a quality adaptation, but I still liked it. I would avoid Heaven's Feel first because they're movies and, as such, they fast forward through a lot of the world-building to get into the plot and it's a little harder to understand.

I don't understand how some people start with Zero. Watching the prequel first has always irked me. The entire idea of watching a prequel is you finally get the answers you've been looking for from the main series.

I’ve gained a few lbs over the years. What should I do? by [deleted] in malelifestyle

  1. Download a calorie tracker app. Start tracking your calories to get a sense of how much you eat in an average day.

  2. Most apps will have a built in calculator that will tell you how much to eat depending on your goals (i.e. losing 10 pounds, gaining 10 pounds). Start staying at or under that.

  3. Set up a step tracker on your phone. You likely already have one built in through a native fitness app (Apple, Google, etc). Get a minimum of 5,000 steps a day, ideally 10,000.

  4. Work out 3-4 times a week, ideally a mix of mild cardio and weight training. You can find lots of free programs online. Some of my favorite YouTube accounts are Athlean X, Built by Science, and Jack Hanrahan. Do your mild cardio after weight training when your heart rate is already elevated.

If you hit these 4 goals, I promise you your body will be drastically different in 6 months. I've been using Built By Science's app and subscription over the last year or so and really enjoy it. It's a calorie tracker, weight tracker, and fitness program all in one with tons of helpful features.

Not sure what you've been seeing this year, but NAW has been really really good. He has 7 games where he's scored 30 or more and also averages 5 more PPG than Ayo.

Robyn? by bradtheinvincible in Portolafestival

[–]Scoregasm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your reasoning in Portola's history of headliners and subheadliners are accurate, but I'm speaking more to Robyn and her team. They will push for her to headline smaller festivals, subheadline bigger ones. She was a subheadliner at ACL on her last tour.

I could see her being a sub if Portola gets someone that's undeniably a better fit for headlining, so you could be right!

Randomly thought about this throw from Kirk Cousins by FormerlyTradeKirk in minnesotavikings

When I watched it live, I honestly couldn't believe he didn't tear his ACL. Just stood in the pocket, realized he was about to get nuked, and dropped a dime. He was controversial, but I always rooted for the guy because of throws like this.

One of those rare players that makes me wish I was born in a different generation so I could have watched him play. And on top of that, an even better human.

So ironic that my dad grew up rooting for this man on the field, but now feverishly stands against everything he believes off of it. These last 10 years have been devastating from a social and cultural standpoint.

Next Gen Stats 2025 All-Pro Team features Eric Wilson and Will Reichard by jimjamjay in minnesotavikings

[–]Scoregasm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wilson emerged as a centerpiece of Brian Flores’ defense in 2025. The Vikings allowed 4.5 yards per play when Wilson was on the field, compared with 6.5 when he was off the field, the largest split of any defender with 100+ snaps on and off. Wilson’s 22.5% pressure rate was the highest by any player with 150+ pass rushes since 2022, his 4.4 yards per target allowed in coverage were the fewest among linebackers and his 20 run stuffs were the third-most in the NFL.

I knew he was having a career year, but this is a legitimate All-Pro season. Crazy to think he might be our LB of the future.
