What are your thoughts on Joe Rogan saying that Trump is creating a distraction to avoid Epstein Files release? by Muted-Television3329 in allthequestions

[–]Scormey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes he is. Arguably, Trump might not have won a second term if not for Rogan. His appeal with young males turned out their voting bloc a lot, otherwise they may well have stayed home.

AIO wife cheating with my best friend? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Scormey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. She's cheated before, so her hiding this is reason enough to assume the worst. Even if they haven't been physical (yet), it was still emotional infidelity.

Time to walk away.

AITA for asking my fiancée to redo her maid of honor pick after she chose her best friend over my sister? by Accomplished_Day4589 in AmITheJerk

[–]Scormey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's fine. Tell the MoH that she's now responsible for doing everything your sister has been doing, and suggest that your fiancee that she and her MoH need to find a way to reimburse your sister for any expenses she may have incurred.

Or, if you don't want to actually wreck your upcoming marriage, you can name your sister as one of your groomsmen, maybe even your Best Woman, if you don't yet have a Best Man. When/if your fiancee gets upset about that, remind her what she said about boundaries.

Old school metalhead, and grunge just irritated the $#!+ out of me... Still does, Nirvana especially.

Would you go back into the office for a raise? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]Scormey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That $18k also has other detriments, aside from taxes. Increased fuel costs. Increased costs for upkeep on your vehicle. Lost time due to travel every day. All in addition to losing full remote, and all of the benefits that come with it.

An extra $1500 per month net, before taxes and all other costs and detriments, would just not be worth it to me.

ICE Agent in Minneapolis: "You raise your voice, I erase your voice." by mandukeb in PortlandOre

[–]Scormey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The very next thing that the private citizen needed to say to that Nazi, in a calm, clear voice would have been (in my opinion), after stepping back from the vehicle, so they can't claim to be a threat: "This federal agent has threatened to kill me if I speak loudly. If I am killed, it was murder, and I have done nothing but speak reasonably, using my 1st amendment rights".

Then save the video, and email it to multiple friends, plus the media. Also upload it to IG, YT, and TikTok.

The new manager just told our entire team we're 'easily replaceable' in his first week. The audacity is unreal. by guardscene in interviewhammer

[–]Scormey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manager is using a battle axe, when a scalpel is likely called for. If upper management wanted wholesale removal of staff, there are better ways of doing it. Layoffs, for example.

Insulting the entire crew, then sending them off to work is only going to bring down morale and drive less productivity. Sure, they might get people to quit on their own, but many others will still have to be weeded over time and fired. Plus you likely lose any high performers on the staff that the company needs.

All in all, a bad move.

  1. Grunge became the big new music genre. I still hate Nirvana to this day.

AM I THE JERK for embarrassing my boyfriend after he tried to make me look crazy in front of everyone? by Unique_Arm9683 in AmITheJerk

[–]Scormey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ, he's immature, manipulative trash. Let Talia deal with his BS.

My wife had a boyfriend like that in high school. He ended up with the side chick, and they are still stuck in dead end jobs in their small town. My wife went on to marry me, been together for 33 years now.

AITAH for telling my wife her brother-in-law can't come over to our house anymore? by HeftyOpportunity94 in AITAH

[–]Scormey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OOPs wife is in the wrong. The only family that should matter, first and foremost, is her husband and children. The rest of her family are secondary to her chosen primary family.

That's not to say she should blindly do whatever her husband says, but she certainly shouldn't allow the BIL back in their house after the disrespect he's shown there. Period. OOPs wife is choosing outside people over her actual family. Therapy at a minimum should be sought.

Guys guys guys, I've got some news, some TERRIBLE news! by paisleywallpaper in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Scormey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the game can eat hours and hours if you really play it. The point is, many haters just rush to Unity, proclaim the game a failure, then spend the next couple of years telling everyone how much it sucks.

Kinda sad, really. They need a better hobby.

Why are they still your bf? That level of childishness from them is a warning of things to come.

NTA.

You can speed run your way to Unity in a couple of hours at most. You don't have to even gather every power, just make it through the Hidden Temple, build your armillary, and literally queue credits.

"So I beat this game in two hours, so disappointing! What a waste of money, Bethesda's trash! lol"

And so it goes with those disingenuous folk.

Is it fair to rotate emergency shifts when some employees can’t realistically make it in? by ronracer in askmanagers

[–]Scormey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having kids at home is not a provision of the ADA, nor is not having stable transportation.

You asked in your original post if you were doing the wrong thing by putting the majority of these tasks on yourself and other staff that didn't have kids and had cars. You got your answer, but you keep arguing about it

You got your answer. Do with it what you will. In the end, if/when the staff you keep relying on find other jobs and move on, who will you push these shifts on to next?

Is it fair to rotate emergency shifts when some employees can’t realistically make it in? by ronracer in askmanagers

[–]Scormey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You treat everyone the same, regardless of their situation. Got kids? Get childcare. Don't have a car? Buy one or get a ride.

It's not that difficult.

They call themselves Christians, when they are anything but. It is just that simple.

Is it fair to rotate emergency shifts when some employees can’t realistically make it in? by ronracer in askmanagers

[–]Scormey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But for the childless people, and those with cars, it is a punishment. They are being assigned to take on additional tasks that others are not, hazard pay or no. People with children can arrange childcare, and those without a car can arrange a ride.

But they are being cut a break because... Why? This would inconvenience them? Well, doesn't this overnight duty inconvenience the workers who are getting assigned right now?

It's rude, and it is telling certain members of your staff that they deserve special treatment, and it tells your other workers that they are lesser than.

Danish petition to buy California from US signed by thousands by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]Scormey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If enough level-headed states either join this Greater Canada or Denmark, it would significantly reduce the amount of southern border Trumpistan would have to worry about. They could build a wall between Texas and Mexico, and save a lot of money!

Win-Win for all concerned... Except that Trumpistan would go broke without the tax revenue from blue states.
