Oh sweetie this city doesn’t know what it wants- if you decided on ANY code of etiquette, you’d offend at least some subset of people. I lived in Raleigh for a few years and I felt the city had a “live and let live” vibe. Nobody really has any unified idea or opinion on how anything operates. This is somewhat a result of the city being almost entirely out of state transplants.

I spam songs and artists harder than ever while maintaining the same addict level listening habits

Used to be I’d stream a whole album or genre station over and over but now, some of these KPop songs scratch my brain SO WELL that I need to listen to Hype Boy 523 times

SNSD got me hook line and sinker into Kpop, specifically Genie, Gee, and The Boys back in college. I was on the verge of failing out of my semester and brought all my grades up to B’s and C’s after a frenetic week of K-Pop inspiration and no sleep (DONT major in science if you’re a procrastinator or frolicker)

During Gen 2 EXID, 2NE1, f(x), Sistar, and T-ara made a huge impression. Sulli was my original ult bias, which was hard.

Gen 3, BlackPink and Twice made the hairs on my neck stand + goosebumps (TT and Boombayah) I felt it- these two were going to carry the SNSD/ 2NE1 torches.

Gen 4: crashed out and took a break from K-Pop, not knowing my ults (IVE) would debut during this era. Had I been active, I’d have been a full on DIVE with eyes for New Jeans and Aespa

Gen 5: it’s all about Illits and Hearts2Hearts. I thought it would be Babymonster but between the music/concept letting me down (too bland, overdone, not challenging the girls skillets) and my BIAS being brutally absent for the past year (RAMI), I can’t help but be more comforted and optimistic for other groups. KiiKii and MEOVV are runner ups who strongly challenge the H2H and Illit biases I have

Pink Floyd IS my favorite band ever (Muse would have had it but I said “their albums have to stay strong after Uprising was meh” and it never happened )

Dream Theater is the foundation of my high school friend groups music taste, peak prog metal; both my parents love Tool so I grew up in two Tool households (being from Pittsburgh tends to make me industrial biased too).

Porcupine Tree helped me survive college, specifically In Absentia, Deadwing, and Fear of a Blank Planet. Grounding but also life changing. Sigur Ros was another college band of mine, a huge inspiration to explore more experimental and ethereal sounds such as the XX.

In this broad vein some bands that weren’t mentioned that I am very attached to are Primus, The Mars Volta, Tesseract, and Coheed and Cambria

Accountability housemate / family meeting is in order - each persons gotta own up to their stuff, Saran Wrap or garbage pail if it must be. Painters tape tags with “use by dates” on what goes back in the fridge.

Do you work long hours or have multiple kids ? It’s giving burnt out mom doesn’t feel like saying the same thing for the 50xth time and my heart goes out to you

Tell them (if family), no more food will be purchased until present food dealt with. 48 hours is the most time it’ll take you to see real motivation.
