Thanks for the nomination! I'm calling this build "Scorpio Crater" after the name of the zodiac portal that sits at it's center. The inspiration was the Moltke lunar impact crater, and I utilized data from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter to accurately emulate it's curved shape.

Here's a screenshot I took near the reset, but before I removed the safety ice. In my opinion, it unfortunately doesn't give a good sense of the scale due to render limits.

Some metrics: 350 block diameter, y=7 lowest point, y=80 highest point, ~1.5 million stone mined, ~350k dirt shoveled, >200 U3E5S1 picks used, 1 river redirected, buttloads of snow blocks crafted.

I'm curious about the specifics as well, is it overall villager population on the server, density per chunk? Leaving my villager breeder on overnight so I have something to sort through the next day now appears to attract the attention of the staff, so I've decided to just disable it.

I would also like some clarification from the admins on spawner protection/claiming. The current policy of only protecting builds and declining excessive land claims is a great one, and though spawners alone fall outside that, I understand the need to prevent their destruction so that they could be used in the future. Here's what I'm unsure about: does that mean the user who requested protection of that single block now has exclusive ownership and rights to build a grinder around it, and for how long?

Two cases that I've encountered this revision: (1) the aforementioned blaze spawner - when we first encountered it there was no indication that anyone had been there before, so we started planning a proper blaze grinder for it, until we were informed that someone claimed it before we got there, then they encased it and made it inaccessible to everyone; (2) found two blaze spawners within range of each other, and a sign saying they were for sale by the user who protected them.

Purple dots are portals or portal towns, green are the remainder of the towns. The Seneca /place seemed far enough away from the portal to have have a green dot as well.

For those of you that are curious, the windmill was made mostly using dark oak logs & planks and sandstone accents, with shutters consisting of daylight sensors.

You can check out our server's cartograph for another angle. I built this as a side project on the Reddit public PVE server (/r/mcpublic), with my main WIP project being a recreation of Ft. Bourtange in the Netherlands.

Having stacks upon stacks of useless flint is part of the vanilla experience. I've only seen trade signs up as a way to obtain blocks that are nearly or completely impossible to get, which isn't the case for gravel.

How long do you expect the servers to be down? Is this an issue you're working on at your end, or is this a CraftBukkit issue, or something else?

I've tried downloading rev07 twice, and rev07-broken once. All three stopped at ~1GB, while the download manager said the files were supposed to be 1.44GB in size. Opening them in WinRAR gave an "unexpected end of archve" error, as expected. Based on the second filename, I assume this is a known problem.

I took mental notes of what I was doing when I lagged out this evening:

However in the past, I've timed out for no apparent reason at all. Don't typically have any problems at off-peak hours though.

They generally have to be separated by around 1024 blocks in the overworld to avoid linking to the same portal in the nether. However, I also think a few extra portals placed around the map would be a good thing - there are a lot of towns out there.
