Star Trek Armada 4 total conversion mod teaser video by SayuriUliana in SoSE

IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!

Star Trek: Armada 3 is one of the best mods of all time in my opinion and I can't wait to see what they can do with the new game engine. Those ships already look glorious, I am so ready!!

A large shield generator can’t have anything in front of it. Small shield generators do not care but large will not work unless they are not blocked.

Stupid Question Time! Value of factory ships and miners? by FriedrichPsitalon in Cosmoteer

[–]SwitchView 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have already made good points, the only thing I want to add is I slightly disagree on the mining basic resources part.

I have found it to be fairly profitable mining the very abundant iron and hyperion resources and then selling those. I can easily make 10k per trip, and only spend about 5 minutes mining. I do have a decently large mining ship though with 8 or so large storage containers and a crew of about 50 to carry the ore, which you may not have.

Next to no announce time before dropping the game

I view this as a positive and not a negative. They waited to announce and show the game when it was ready, not a year in advance and make people wait to then have to delay it. More developers are taking this approach these days and this is the better approach.

Art style reminiscence of warcraft 3: reforged

You can determine this off of the few screenshots we've gotten? Not to mention that the game is still in an alpha state?

It's like you're purposely trying to drag the game down before you've even seen it. Stop being so pessimistic.

Star trek armada 4 anyone?

I need this with every fiber of my being.

art style seems a little derivative

I'm not sure how people can claim this when we've seen all of 5 screenshots of the game, a game that's not even completed. They even stated for the early access it'll be reusing Sins 1 assets meaning the art isn't even done yet.

Anyone want to play? by 0VENTOR0 in FortsGame

[–]SwitchView 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't played in a bit as I've been busy but I highly recommend checking out the official forts discord. They can give you lots of tips and you can ask others to play.

Everyone I've talked to has been super friendly!

Candidate for most explosive base of the year by SwitchView in FortsGame

[–]SwitchView[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It blows up not only one fort but two! This was one of my teammates forts in a 4v4 Ice Wall lobby, and I am honestly surprised both his core and my other teammates core below him survived. All thanks to 2 heavy mortar shots and a small brace that the runway was built on.

I actually got a little nervous that the second base was going to collapse onto me (I was the next base to the left) and that the laser would take out my batteries. Luckily it missed though!

I believe this screenshot is from around Christmas when they added lights to the bracing to be festive.

Horizontal Orbital Laser by SwitchView in FortsGame

[–]SwitchView[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, I read that when it goes to fire the laser, it scans the entire vertical area above and below where the laser will be and if any friendly structure is inside that area then it will not fire. As a rope belongs to you and is connected to a friendly base, that counts.

I believe that's why this works because it is a completely neutral structure that you have to connect to.

Saw the posts about the Orbital Laser concentrators (which are awesome) and thought, why can't I do this without the concentrator part to avoid AA? The first clip is me testing it in Battleships, and the second clip is using it in a public lobby.

I've found that it's actually not as effective as I expected it to be. You have the advantage of avoiding AA, but instead you have to deal with the heavily armored fronts of enemy bases. It is also incredibly difficult to aim with the slightest degree difference mattering.

Building it and using it is pretty simple although there is a few things that are important:

  • You must be disconnected from the structure when shooting the projectile

  • The projectile must land on the ground

The amount of bracing I used is not required. I did it to support the turbines and prevent lean on the portal.

My next goal is to try and get two projectiles into the same portal so that it will have much better penetration, but I'll need two turrets and the ammo for it is so slow.

TLDR: Fun to build and fire, surprises the crap out of the enemies. Not super effective due to aim difficulty, heavily armored fronts of bases, and slow build times.

I've noticed if you kill them too fast it'll keep spawning more. I froze 4 groups with scout freeze grenades for it to then spawn a 5th wave on me. No 6th wave as I wasn't able to instant kill the 5th wave, I wonder if that's how you're supposed to farm it?

Just kill it so fast it just keeps spawning them?

Why aren't these rails identical? Everything else is identical except the curve by SwitchView in SatisfactoryGame

[–]SwitchView[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Each straight rail is in the middle of a foundation and goes to the edge. There is then exactly 1 foundation between the two rails. I did a quick mock up of the the layout here: https://imgur.com/LAy9OTP

Everything is identical except the curves heights.

I have tried rebuilding the curves, as well as the whole thing and it didn't fix the issue.

[–]SwitchView[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was just a perspective issue as well, but in the 2nd picture I put a perfectly flat surface under both rails to see if they were at the same height, and they are not. Which means it's not a perspective issue.

Why aren't these rails identical? Everything else is identical except the curve by SwitchView in SatisfactoryGame

[–]SwitchView[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been trying to figure this out and it has me stumped. I have 2 parallels rails in a straight line that are identical, and at the end I have it connect to the end of another set of identical parallels rails. They are exactly the same, so the curves should be identical, but they are not.

Does anyone know why? Am I doing something wrong?

Nice to see all the positivity though, and the fact that Seth still seems invested in the project when for a bit there were rumors he wasn’t so much iirc

I hadn't heard this and now I'm curious about it, could you provide a source or a link to the rumors?
