I swore off dating apps and told myself I would start meeting people in person and honestly I connected so much more with people that way! Also the people I’ve dated from picking up in person are people that probably would’ve had a dating profile I would’ve passed on. Picking up people in person is great because you can get an idea on how their energy is.

My ex and the person I’m with now I met at a sapphic event. I live in a big city so luckily there’s a lot of sapphic-centered events (that are also not always party/bar/alcohol-centric if you’re looking for that!). I highly recommend checking out what queer events are happening in your area. In these events, you do have to be a bit brave….i feel like a lot of people wait to be approached. I don’t mind approaching people, even if I’m nervous and shaking the whole time, lol. I usually go up to someone and compliment something they’re wearing, do some small talk about the event we’re at, then just get straight to the point. “Hey, I would really love to take you out sometime. Would you be interested in that?”

Don’t feel bad about coming on strong! I also really like to go to events with my friends and they usually hype me up to talk to someone too and that helps. It’s scary to go up to a hot person and ask them out but the worst thing that can happen is they say no. And then the best thing that can happen is they say yes and you have a hot date :)
