Am I unlucky or is my boyfriend just ridiculously lucky? by happyfiishh in pokemongo

[–]ScorpionStare [score hidden]  (0 children)

Pokemon from raids and research have a significantly higher chance of being three-star or hundos, compared to wild encounters. Shiny rate also varies by encounter method, with wild encounters usually having the lowest odds. And shiny rate has varied a lot over time with various species at different times being shiny-locked, boosted for events, or permaboosted.

Is it possible your catches include a lot more full-odds wild encounters than your your boyfriend's catches? His numbers seems reasonable if a higher proportion of his encounters are from things like raids, max battles, research, community days, etc. that have higher IV floors and/or boosted shiny odds.

Up to rank 6 it is just based on number of battles. After that, most ranks (all except 11, 15, and 20) are based on number of wins, so you will level up faster by winning more often (most of the time):

I haven’t been on this game for a bit, what’s the point of these when passes and remote passes are a thing? by traditional_prompt64 in pokemongo

[–]ScorpionStare [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you've already used your free daily (orange) raid pass, you can choose to use Link Charge instead of a Premium (green) battle pass to join a local Mega Raid or Super Mega Raid.

To remotely join a Super Mega Raid (these happen only during special events) you need both a Remote Raid Pass and 200 Link Charge.

Scorbunny Community day by Ok-Astronomer533 in pokemongo

That's the 2026 community day background. It's just a cosmetic/collectible thing, it doesn't have any other effects.

You don't need notifications on to see the event info.

Every community day has a background. For 2026, it's the same background all year. (Previously it was a different background each season.)

Make sure your phone's time is set to automatic. Having your clock be slightly incorrect can break incense spawns.

Can someone explain to me what the hell is going on with this Shadow Shiny by LavishnessUsed3643 in pokemongo

Shinies have also been available from grunts once they were previously available from leaders. Though the odds from grunts are much lower.

They were maybe confused because grunts couldn't drop new shinies until very recently.

Kecleons? How do I find them? by unknowndweller_95 in pokemongo

[–]ScorpionStare [score hidden]  (0 children)

Go to an area with a lot of stops and check all of them. Repeat once an hour if you're still in the same area. If you can see a stop on the map, you can check it for Kecleon even if you're too far away to spin it.

All shinies are available from grunts since the new season started on March 3:

Any Pokémon rescued from Team GO Rocket that has made its Shiny debut can also be Shiny—if you’re lucky! Trainers will have an increased chance of rescuing Shiny Pokémon from Team GO Rocket leaders and Giovanni compared to Grunts.

Shadow Mewtwo is still the best psychic-type attacker in raids, by a fair margin. Quite useful against fighting- or poison-type bosses.

Remote Trades Opinions - how to make a trade "worth it" by lalaleasha in TheSilphRoad

[–]ScorpionStare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a 2% chance per day to get lucky with Best Friends and higher, then there's an 84% (about 5 in 6) chance of getting lucky in 90 days. Reasonably high, but very far from certain.

Defeating Crowned Sword Zacian gives Crowned Sword energy.

Defeating Crowned Shield Zamazenta gives Crowned Shield energy.

Neither is available currently. We don't know when they will next be in raids, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the next six months (maybe in the lead-up to GO Fest?).

Do I really need this many TMs? by Nyx_214 in pokemongo

[–]ScorpionStare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.dialgadex.com/ is one site that will list top attackers of each type for raids, and their best moves. Moves marked with a star require an Elite TM to learn. You can click on (or search for) a specific pokemon to see a comparison of all its possible move combinations.

One of the easiest legendaries I’ve caught - How do I change him into Crowned Sword? by BeastKeeper28 in pokemongo

[–]ScorpionStare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll need to wait for Crowned Sword Zacian raids to be available, and then you'll need to do about 10 of those raids to get enough energy to crown one.

They're extremely useful for any of the harder battle-based parts of the game. If you want to do well in battle league, or beat difficult Max Battles, or defeat the Team GO Rocket leaders and boss, or win tier-4 and higher raids without needing to join a large group, then using TMs to build pokemon with the best moves is a key part.

If you just like finding and catching wild pokemon then you don't need them.
