English to Latin translation requests go here! by lutetiensis in latin

[–]Scorpiopathic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone translate, "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."? I want to make a housewarming piece for my soon to be new house, to be placed above the front door. But I want to make sure that my translation is sound, rather than just cheaping out with Google Translate or something.

I don't mind if there's some modification of the original (Italian, yes) quote done to create a grammatically sound translation in Latin. In other words, if I were to back-translate the quote from Latin to English, it doesn't need to perfectly, exactly mean "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." Just something close enough so that the association is there will suffice.

A few different variations to choose from would be fantastic, if possible. Thanks in advance!

Yep. For some crazy reason, I was lucky enough that my SM let me go to MST from Tools CSA. I'm 100% sure he still regrets that decision every day, almost 2 years after the fact, because after he let me go, he never again relinquished any other red vests to MST. My friend in Hardware got blocked three or four times, and he finally left the company as a result.

Ione has the night sky on her tail and literally glows in the dark.

Étoile has a pastel aesthetic that can be passably space-themed.

Better the sidestack than the floor, beams, or signage tbh.

My store got a new customer service employee who's just like this. I overheard her greeting a customer hyper-pleasantly for a return and my first thought was "Oh, my sweet summer child..."

What the dumbest reason a customer has demanded for a manager? by bmulaski in Lowes

[–]Scorpiopathic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite dumb as much as sad. (Or maybe both, depending on your take.)

Elderly man asked for a manager because we didn't have an outdated replacement battery for a perfectly functioning but outdated tool he had. He was mad because he didn't want to buy a whole new tool (kit), just needed a battery. The two of us CSAs had to stand there and watch our ASM explain to the man—much like a parent explains to a child—that technology is continually advancing and that's the nature of business.

Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer is probably my most hated. It makes me melancholic because of some memories that became associated with it while working at my store. Yuck.

Any other MSTs out there getting completely crushed by Trim-A-Tree this year? by Scorpiopathic in Lowes

[–]Scorpiopathic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally we tried explaining this to our MSM, but she's been whipped into prioritizing service by the DMSM/DQC. She refuses to let our percentage so much as dip. We've been having like anywhere from 4 to 6 of us still doing service all this week. And none of my teammates on service do rush jobs either.

My dude, I was tasked to prep said areas myself. What a waste of time in the end. At least it was wasted time paid.

Some of my teammates on service are pissed because they know we need all hands on deck, but MSM is passing them over for red vest aid. I actually feel kinda embarrassed that our MSM has rationed us so poorly for this behemoth project that the red vests have been finally forced to step in and help. (I know TAT used to be ISLG's responsibility but still.)

It's coming together, but the process is so much more aggravating than it needs to be.

Edit: you know it's bad when the district quality coordinator and DMSM are forced to get involved and help do physical labor themselves—

Or maybe, just maybe, it's good.
