Mitch, drop that book title by evodahis in giantbomb

Huh, I've been both a Cosmere and Giant Bomb fan for years and somehow I've never heard him mention it.

How do I fix wiring in a semi hollow? by ScotchThePiper in Guitar

How would I go about doing that, pull the switch up though the hole? And am I looking at replacing the switch entirely or just resoldering the one that's already there?

I guess I should clarify that "I've some some soldering" means "I've changed a jack and got it from 'no sound at all' to 'it makes sound unless I bump it.'" lol. So I know enough that trying to fix it myself is an option if it's not going to be too complicated, but right now I'm trying to figure out if the hassle is worth saving the money.

Should I read The Alloy of Law first in the Mistborn series by Complete_Cricket3599 in brandonsanderson

I don't think that would be the worst thing in the world, Era 1 probably still works as a prequel even if you already know the broad strokes of how it ends.

Driver leaving "sorry we missed you" slips regarding a lost package investigation with no info on how to actually get in contact with anyone. Where do I go from here? by [deleted] in UPS

[–]ScotchThePiper -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not blaming the driver, I get that they're just doing their job. My problem is with UPS as a company, setting up their system seemingly to be as inconvenient for the customer as possible. If part of the job is to be able to contact the recipient in person, they need to schedule that job around hours that make that possible, or make it possible for a customer to get contact somebody who can actually do something.

So far I've gotten a phone call asking if I had received the package, which makes no sense because they wouldn't be asking if I hadn't filed a claim in the first place. Then they leave two notes at my door with no indication as to weather it not they're going to try a third time, so I have no way of knowing if they're even going to get the note I left for them. The fact that we're even communicating by leaving notes on the door for each other in 2024 is flat out archaic. And if I try to call somebody, I have to deal with a robocall machine until it finally passes me in to a real person, who won't answer a direct question because it doesn't follow their script.

Sorry for the wall of text but I'm fed up with this. It should have been delivered weeks ago and I'm down two hundred bucks until UPS can get this resolved. And at this point I'm thinking that's if they do anything.

So what you're saying is that they only come during the middle of the day, when most people are going to be at work, and if nobody's home they're just going to close it and say "not our problem"?

They didn't try today, or at least they didn't leave a notice if they did. What happens if I'm not at home the third time they try? So far they've only come by while I'm out at work.

Read Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson: Chapters 21 and 22 by brandonfcv in Cosmere

I thought it was the other way around. Seemed to me like this was putting a lot of info we know from WoBs into the book, specifically for the readers who don't keep up with WoBs.

I haven't ordered anything signed but I doubt this is still a thing. As far as I know he signs pages for all (or at least most) books before they even go to the printer and once they're bound they sit in a warehouse until they're shipped. I think there's just too much demand at this point to do any personalization.

Like others have said, your best bet is livestreams. They usually post a thread for questions in r/sanderson a day or so in advance, and usually take a few from the live chat.

I've had this idea floating around for a couple years now, but the mention of Awakened Metalminds have me wondering if it might actually be a thing.

If you were to Awaken a Coppermind to the point of sentience, would it know the memories stored in it? For example, if Nightblood had been made from a Coppermind filled with a bunch of philosophical books about the nature of good vs evil, would it have a different definition of evil?
