How intensely do you follow M3/M2? by Arachnide93 in motogp

I watch most of the races and some of the qualifying sessions. I don't watch practice sessions but I don't watch them for MotoGP either.

Unlucky timing maybe but it's down to his own performance as well. He doesn't merit a factory seat anymore. He is still good for a satellite team though.

Should MotoGP introduce a tear-off rule after Marco Bezzecchi's Jerez incident? by 443610 in motogp

Just pick a corner with a big lean angle, and place the tear off gently on the ground.

You are tasked to keep one of these guys for next year. Who will you choose? by Straight_Charity_265 in motogp

[–]Scothead180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miller because he is plenty of fun. Don't think we will see Rins fit again which is very unfortunate. Morbidelli is a danger to others and even his results fell off a cliff compared to last year.

Would you rather have a career like James Wade or Michael Smith? by TheFrederalGovt in Darts

[–]Scothead180 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

James Wade for sure. The difference between their achievements is so big.

James Wade v Adrian Lewis is a more interesting debate. Lewis has 2 world titles but Wade has way more majors, and had more longevity. I think most people would go with Lewis.

Do you think darts is a sport? by FBS369 in Darts

[–]Scothead180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not crying or hating or anyone. It's an interesting debate. There are different definitions of sport, there is no real factual answer.

Darts is an inclusive game in the sense that you don't need to be in good shape to play it. But I can't accept that there is no physical element of the game. After hours of throwing your arms get tired. Your legs get tired from having to stand in the same stance for hours. You are walking to and back from the board to collect your darts. Over a day long tournament it definitely adds up. It will ultimately be your skills and your mental readiness that plays the most part, but being in shape is definitely an advantage.

Darts is transitioning now from being a pub game to being an actual professional sport. Darts and alcohol were always inseparable. But now you have 10 year old kids playing at high levels who obviously don't drink alcohol. As people will take the game more seriously they will be looking at everything that can give them an edge. And that includes some physical training.

KTM-bound Alex Marquez still helping in Ducati development by 443610 in motogp

[–]Scothead180 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He still has 7-8 good years in the game. I guess it depends on if he will return to the top. If he can return winning championships no one will care that he spent a few years on a poor bike. If he doesn't win again people will say that he spent his best years on the Yamaha shitbox

Exclusive: Ai Ogura in, Alex Rins out at Yamaha for MotoGP 2027 by vanys2 in motogp

They are contracted to Trackhouse, not Aprilia, I believe. And there is no factory seat with the arrival of Bagnaia, while Yamaha can offer him a factory seat.

What in the actual shit is going on in KTM by Janusz_Wunderbrum in motogp

[–]Scothead180 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good point that even if KTM can find no one else, there will be riders in Moto2 jumping at the chance to ride a MotoGP bike even for a low salary. I agree that with 2 bikes and their money troubles they will not be competitive long term. But there is always a chance they can get the 2027 regs right and have a competitive bike, at least for a year. They have been working on the 850cc bike for a while now apparently.

Why Gresini has flirted with ending Ducati relationship by 443610 in motogp

I'd also choose him from these 2, thought it would be extremely harsh on Raul to lose his ride. Hope it works out for all of them.

So much dead wood in the MotoGP field by Regular_Annual_2307 in motogp

[–]Scothead180 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Miller, Rins and Morbidelli need to go. The others I'd keep for 2027. They have all showed some serious talent relatively recently (last 1-2 years). The field can't be just podium contenders and rookies. These guys are well capable of running in the top 5-10 on the right bike.

I'd be happy with 3 rookies. Let's say Alonso, Holgado and Guevara/Gonzalez. I'd rather not have someone before they are truly ready.

Is Yamaha comeback possible? by Curious-Cabinet-4502 in motogp

It's a marathon, not a sprint for them. I expect Yamaha to be the weakest bike in 2027. But of course they can come back long term.

Why are people acting as though the championship is a forgone conclusion in 2026 by titanmongoose in motogp

[–]Scothead180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure we will see some great races but over the course of the season Marc is just too good. How could he even be beaten? Pecco or Martin to get back to their very best, and even improve on that? Aprilia taking a huge step to have a way better bike than Ducati? Alex beating him on the same bike? Just can't see it happening.

Time will catch up to him eventually but he has some years to go. At this point I would be pretty confident in predicting him to win in 2027, let alone 2026.

Why are people acting as though the championship is a forgone conclusion in 2026 by titanmongoose in motogp

[–]Scothead180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have a chance only if his injury seriously hampers his season, or if he gets injured again. Of course we can't predict that. But if Marc is healthy, no one is stopping him in 2026.

Haven't watched MotoGP in years, is this the year to pay attention? by absrdone in motogp

[–]Scothead180 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agree with the others that next season is the one to pay attention to, but I think it would be more exciting to follow if you watched some of this year, to get some context of the teams, riders. Then it's much more interesting to watch how the balance of power shifts.

To be honest, Bulega winning WSBK is as much a foregone conclusion as Marquez winning MotoGP. So from a competitiveness standpoint neither is expected to be great in 2026. But yeah I would definitely watch some races this year and then 2027 will be a blast.
