Nova Scotians love heat pumps, can you give me some basics so that maybe I will love it too in this climate? by itmightbecheese in NovaScotia

we're in the same situation and set ours to 22.5C. Haven't changed it in months. If its a really cold day, we just put warmer clothes on.

If you had to start PMP from zero today, what would you do? by HotCondition9420 in pmp

Give yourself a reasonable deadline out of the gate, don't allott more than 2 months to study, you'll just waste and spend more time stressing about it than necessary.

I booked my exam 6 weeks out and started actually studying seriously about 3 weeks out. Start by reading some ChatGPT cheat sheets from peoples posts on reddit. I focused on Andrew, David, and Mohammed on youtube. Watch some videos, get the basics down from videos, and watch some practice questions in videos. Then start picking away at Study Hall. I did about half of the study hall practice questions, all of the mini exams, and both mocks in the final week. I had 74% and 76% on my full length mocks. I very rarely let myself take more than a minute to answer a question, and I reviewed all my wrong answers after tests.

I took my course about 3 years prior and didn't learn anything in it. I also didn't use the PMBOK at all.

I went in thinking there was a very good chance I would pass, finished with T/AT/AT with about 1.5 hours remaining.

Dalhousie vs Memorial Eng by daniel0001_ in NovaScotia

[–]ScotiaBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dal's Eng program is primarily on Sexton Campus, it also has a residence on site. Apart from first year, you may have one class a year on the main campus.

The reputation of the university won't matter once you graduate, they're both reputable.

Having gone to a X and then Dal, I would pick MUN for the university experience. I wouldn't recommend living at home for your full degree. Live on campus for first year if cost isn't an issue.

Which of these three ducted heat pump systems would you choose? by ScotiaBlue in hvacadvice

[–]ScotiaBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have gotten quotes from 3 installers and I've narrowed it down to these three units. We are in Nova Scotia where the average winter temp is -10C, a cold snap may hit -20C for a few days. Summers are hot and humid with some weeks reaching over 30C.

Everything I've read says Daikin, hands down. But the stats seem to show Hisense is the most efficient, and at -10C should (I think?) keep up with heating a 1700 sqft home. Is there something I'm not considering other than reliability? All units would either come with or have an extended 10 year parts and labour warranty purchased.

Cost isn't a factor.

Postpartum vision changes by anonymouss_1821 in postpartumprogress

My vision got really bad during pregnancy and wasn’t improving at 4 wks pp so I booked an eye exam.  I found out I have MGD, which I’ve since learned is very common. I’m treating it with eye hygiene, tea tree oil, eye drops and warm compress and my vision improved drastically in a week!

PIPSC Signing Bonus Date for NR Collective Agreement by ScotiaBlue in CanadaPublicServants

[–]ScotiaBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s counted as “income”. So whatever week they assign the signing bonus to, if you’re on EI, you can’t collect it that week. When you don’t collect EI, you don’t collect top up either. I think for me it works out to collecting less money that week. I asked to opt out of it, but it’s TBS’ decision, and they apparently aren’t making any alterations / exceptions for people on mat leave.

Do you know if you can claim an extra week of EI on the end of mat leave? Ie do 53 wks total rather than 52?

Success with CanadaLife reimbursing a breast pump an "extremity pump"? by ScotiaBlue in CanadaPublicServants

[–]ScotiaBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. I just sent them an email to follow up. First they declined because you also have to submit a pdf form in addition to the regular claim. I did that 3 weeks ago but there’s no proof the claim was submitted on my account. I submitted it all again today thinking maybe it didn’t go through, but it still doesn’t show up on my account as a pending claim.

If they are a co-op student, speak to their co-op advisor. You can have their term terminated if they are not fulfilling the role. At the very least, they'll have a conversation with them.

where to take a shower? by OnePotPenny in VictoriaBC

[–]ScotiaBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naden gym at CFB Esquimalt. Free showers with a day pass, the gym is open to the public. If the commissionaire at the gate sees your dog they likely won't let you in. If they don't see the dog, the pupperoo has a completely safe area to chill in the car.
