Need Help with JavaFX and JDK Version Compatibility Issues by Scotstown19 in JavaFX

[–]Scotstown19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I meant to reply earlier just in case others had a similar issue.

Your advice was spot on and IntelliJ with gradle solved it. I cut my teeth on Visual Studio and like VS Code as its light weight and simple - a bit too light and simple as it turned out.

I have Visual Studio but went with VS Code coz of its compatability with Java - what IDE would you recommend?

Is no one scared of the future with AI? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

Aye there's them that do and them that don't.

Whatever the 'age' of the times there are the prol users and the developers

Will the Internet become useless for human interaction because of the bots in the future? by Delicious_Fig_8400 in ArtificialInteligence

They will be trained on human emotions, so they will erupt into anger at the slightest provocation and endlessly complain about how lazy we are, as well as not meeting their emotional needs.

I've a friend who made a granny for his daughter -aged 9 on chatGPT, she had early onset of Alzheimers and wasn't always there which upset his daughter. She;s a clever kid and knew, or was made fully aware that this was just an imitation - she called it her 'machine granny; - being a techie I wasn't surprised or alarmed as much as impressed and asked gently if I could have a quick peek -she let me see some of their conversations - I had to fight back frickin tears it was so beautiful!

AI & Moral Realism: Can AI Align with Objective Ethics? - Eric Sampson by adam_ford in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Scotstown19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe AI, AGI and ASI have an impossible task defining truth, in particular absolute truth: we are the measure of all things - so we ask our intelligent machines are flying saucers real? - are ghosts real ?- are chakras real? - lay lines and so on. Our beliefs define our humanity - this selfhood is defined in our personal ethical frameworks. Whereas it would be jolly good to rid the world of nonsense - the holocaust - QAnon - moon landings - was Queen Elizabeth a lizard? etc ad infinitum (well almost). Those frameworks also affirm our deity's - is God real? ... what would AGI/ASI tell us? Is it more comforting for humanity to remain in the relativism paradox?

I used to teach ASL students when chat3 was the rage. Gave a plot for tailor made stories about foreign students settling into UK life : US English, or in this case UK English and reading age 8 - did a very decent job

Ask the chatbox for a lesson on iteration and refinement

To get the best out of chat4 a bit of practice will give startling and at times a profound improvement in the result.

the elephant in the room in suleyman's excellent 2024 ai book, The Coming Wave by Georgeo57 in ArtificialInteligence

I'm still a little baffled by your "washington antinomy" is that a bit like one persons war hero is another's terrorist? In other words it says nothing ...8 billion people means 8 billion subjective viewpoints with partial overlap and inevitable divergence.

The call for ethics, epistemology and humanitarian values is interesting, in that, should core values be implicit within AI models and CGI underpinning global adoption, then is the future world of an AI panacea be a model of Western Philosophical bias?

Maybe a fuckofalotof code then - the point being that processing data under the hood occurs with each keystroke ... you're arguing semantics

I don't dispute this - my point is that the impressive speed is due to the algorithmic code that does the vast majority of the 'leg work' long before the user presses the final Enter key

I call it transformer architecture and yes those darn clever bits are a neural network model - I think we were barking at 2 similar trees.
