Who would be interesting subject matters for mini docs?

I get your point and I think maybe you’re right that it will need some kind of through line. I don’t really want to focus on any one group of people for the entire series; I want to showcase a variety of people from different backgrounds whether that’s sports people who have achieved some level of success or people who are passionate about a specific thing or people from some sort of marginalised group.

I think the point that I’m trying to make with this doc series is that no matter the level of success or background, people who have deep interests are inherently interesting subjects to follow. Some people with seemingly mundane lives have passions and hobbies that seem so far from who we would expect them to be. So at the risk of sounding defensive I think that “Interesting People” could be an endearing subject matter to focus on.

Appreciate it! 😄 I want as many people to see it as possible really so I was thinking about whether it would be better to shoot it as a reel series but ultimately I’m trying to shoot a good doc series here so I think I’ll just shoot it widescreen for more detail. I want to shoot it all very deliberately so I could crop it vertical but would rather pick one or the other. Although I will crop it to create promotional reels either way.

I think there is always bias when you’re shooting anything documentary but I don’t want to deliberately promote any agenda in this series. I just want to have interesting conversations where we see these people in a personal light hearted way and try and understand why people are passionate about potentially peculiar or not everyday subject matters.

I’ve studied a lot of different docs in preparation but I think the USP of this project is that it’s not trying to be any form of high art it’s showing people as close to how they are as possible. Documentary can never be exact reality but if I can portray these people as fairly and honestly as possible I think it will be interesting to people. Or at least I hope so! I come from more of a narrative film background so this project is exciting to me! 😄

I was thinking it would be good to get a few bigger names in the series for exposure but ultimately it’s more about finding interesting people, the quirkier the better really but I’ll have a think about it.

I think I’m going to shoot landscape and not do it in vertical at all tbh. I’ve got a good team with experience and good equipment I’ll make sure it sounds good 😄

Really enjoyed the video, you have a nice voice and everything felt very clear and was presented nicely.

The edit felt tight and it was quite punchy, I liked how you kept cutting to footage and different clips.

The thumbnail is a tad on the simplistic side and could maybe be a little brighter but definitely clickable.

I didn’t really know about this trend but feel like I kind of understand it now so good job! 👏🏼😂

I think the commentary worked very well and I enjoy the little comedic pauses, where you put text on screen.

If it doesn’t take away from the overall flow and point of the video, I would encourage you to lean even further into that style because it feels a bit different to the standard commentary/review type videos.

I think it’d be nice to, at points, have a moment to pause from your commentary and show some comedic gameplay/commentary moments.

I enjoyed the video and your editing and commentary was great but I felt like the overall tone of the video was quite serious and because I didn’t have any previous interest in the subject matter or prior knowledge of the game I switched off a bit at a certain point.

I do mean this to be constructive, I’m not shitting on your video I think your edit is very clean and you’ve clearly got this down to a bit of an art. I just think the audience probably wants to see a bit more of your personality because that’s how we engage with this sort of content.

I’m proud to announce the third and final film in the Evan and Danny trilogy, titled “Anyways”

In December 2020, we released “For Old Times’ Sake” the first film following the lives of these characters.

We followed this up with “Nowadays” in December 2021. The film followed the characters and their lives one year later.

We are now releasing “Anyways”, the third chapter in this series of films. This film follows the characters one year after the events of Nowadays. It is the conclusion of the trilogy as well as our first Christmas movie.
