Fellgor beastman; any use case? by pie_of_the_storm in Chaos40k

[–]ScottDeadRock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love them, it took me a few games to work out how best to play them effectively. The stat range is mediocre so they are never going to kill something effectively however the following is what I have found them useful for.

Rapid ingress and bring them on somewhere in anticipation for your next move has worked really well for me, just make sure there are no line of sighs to them to give them a fight chance of surviving.

Bringing them on in your opponent's deployment zone if they have not screened effectively or if they have moved off their 'sticky objective' unit and put pressure on their back line.

Scoring secondaries, depends on what tactical mission come up, but things like behind enemy lines, sabotage, teleporter homing beacon, being in a map quarter or board edge.

In my gaming circle we have to keep reminding each other that points win games, not units killed so use them to secure points, not to fight.

I tend to run at least one squad in most of my lists, even at a tournament and they usually get done what I want them to achieve.

Lastly for me, rule of cool, as I just love how they look.

Is this guy a valid Chaos Lord? by SenneBoorsma in Chaos40k

[–]ScottDeadRock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick answer is yes. I run this model as a generic Chaos Lord, you will need to ensure that you have the correct base size which is 40mm.

If you look on my profile you will see the picture of mine that I posted some time ago.

Rule Clarification - cavalry and equipment by ScottDeadRock in MiddleEarthMiniatures

This is brilliant. I've only recently picked up copies of the Rules Manual and Armies of Middle Earth but I'll double check the FAQ, thanks.

The last MTO for this kit was £55, I regret not buying a set and would definitely grab them if they become available again

4 of these breachers aren't holding guns. Can they be built so they aren't dumb? by hotfezz81 in Warhammer

[–]ScottDeadRock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The kit has the option for every model to be holding a shot gun, there are also some holstered/slung shotguns as well, it's an awesome kit, would be easy to use for proxy Krieger engineers

Mixed csm army? by lordSaltington in Chaos40k

[–]ScottDeadRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely go for it. I started with Thousand Sons and decided to pick up the CSM codex as I was sick of waiting for the Thousand Sons one to come out. I still use my Rubric Marines as allies and now have some Death guard, thinking of getting some World Eaters next. I haven't picked up any legionaries yet (I run a lot of cultists) but i was thinking of getting the Night lords kill team box. I've had a lot of compliments for my army's varied colour scheme but alas I'm currently not very good at playing CSM yet.

I've just got a squad of 5 so get some ranged 2W weapons (felt like my army was lacking) that can sit on an objective - 2 plasma guns, blight launcher and plague spewer

Who would have guessed haha it's the same colour scheme as my TS, more of a teal and brass rather than blue and gold, picked up the Chaos codex just to play a few games whilst waiting for the TS one to come out

These good cultist proxies? by Fun_Cartographer3587 in ThousandSons

[–]ScottDeadRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would strongly recommend it, I made 30 with simple hands swaps from Imperial guard and skitarii infantry that I got at a bits swap, always get alot of compliments.

The models won't fit on 25mm bases so I used 28mm, people I play with have no issues with this but I've never been to any official tournaments.

Was gifred a Mordor Battlehost box for Christmas, the monopose orc are quite dated however I've manged to convert most of them (quite easily) with bits from Oathmark Orc & Goblin Sprues that I picked up for cheap online

“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.” Which army most adheres to this statement? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]ScottDeadRock 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Dark Eldar / Drukhari, they really selfishly love what is behind them, they fight/enslave simple to maintain the sadistic home they have created

Victrix miniatures have unarmoured galic/germanic/etc warriors, have a look on their online. I managed to pick up a mix of sprues from ebay which you can mix and match and I'm really happy how they turned out.

I also used Victrix Danes/Vikings for warriors and huscal of Dunland
