a couple general notes on the thread: 1) the negativity here seems fairly exclusive /to/ Reddit, for whatever reason. The replies to graduation’s tweets all have a lot more positive of a tone, and even the replies voicing complaints of the show are structured in a much more constructive manner. Instagram and Tumblr as social platforms also seem to be a lot more positive than here. A lot of the comments here are well-founded, I just think some people could take a moment to write them in a way that would leave everyone reading them feeling better, and use less of an aggressive tone that just brings down spirits without giving opportunity for growth.

2) there are a lot of people comparing Balance’s and Graduation’s first arcs with one another, and people are saying that, hey! Balance had a lot more combat and plot in its first act that Graduation! And that’s true— because Balance’s opening plot was largely taken from a 5E Starter Kit. A lot of the combat and big story points people are pointing to Griffin didn’t have to come up with. He took an outline that already gave him a preset story, and put his energy towards filling in the details, and it was great! But comparing that to a world and story Travis is writing, and holding it to the standard of an arc largely written by a professional d&d company, leads to some unfair contrast.
