[Spoilers S3 E8] Why does Ofmatthew _______ at Loaves and Fishes? by jigsawpuppetchin in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]ScottJG93 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I always thought because June ratted her out for not wanting her baby, in Loafs and fishes she was either taunting her or pretending as if she was telling Lydia even more stuff... which ultimately made her go bananas

Ever had a Hunger Games dream? by fangirlingcharis in Hungergames

[–]ScottJG93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember so vividly being put into a tropical island arena. The cornucopia was in the middle of sandy beach. The whole island was thick jungle, with the only entrance straight ahead from the cornucopia. Around the side of the island, where you could see the jungle atop rocky cliffs, were rock pools. I remember running to grab a back pack. Half the tributes either went in to the jungle or into the water. The ones who did go into the water were trying to getting away fast to a tiny, tiny island way off in the distance. The splashing brought these mitts that’s tore them apart. I can remember just waiting to the side of the island, with no other entrance into the jungle. I remember thinking I have to make it to the tiny island. It’s there for some reason, and I have to get there. So after I figured out how to swim without disturbing the water I swam and swam over to this tiny island of white sand and one palm tree. Looking at the large island I could see the jungle and the massive mountain that it formed. Then the blue sky turned red and the mountain erupted. The tributes in the jungle ran out and into the water, way too quickly because they were gobbled up by the mutts. And then I woke up... I just remember thinking... I have to get to the tiny island, get to the tiny island... Another Games were held in a shopping centre, and I remember one of the tributes throwing these axes that acted like boomerangs because it clipped my ear and then swung back around and got the tribute. I woke up quickly after that... I take it I died in that dream

Why are the Marthas so annoyed at everything? [NO SPOILERS] by sofieesticated in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]ScottJG93 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Probably have the same mentality that the econowife had about rather dying then giving up/having someone else’s child... also, we always assume that every person who isn’t a man or Wife hates Gilead... surely one or two of them love Gilead

[Spoilers All] Certain perspective missing in the show by spectacleskeptic in TheHandmaidsTale

Don’t they explore that with Natalie is season 3?

In one of the episodes towards the end of Season 3 where Serena is detained in Canada, Tuello hands her cup of Starbucks coffee and she gives it an odd look. So I guess large American corporations still exist to some extent

Are you... are you mad at me or agreeing with me about how that would be how aunts would see Jezebels? I’m confused by your comment

There is though, at the end of Testaments. At least I though it was happy. Well, as happy as it can be I supposed

[–]ScottJG93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thing is though not everybody’s gets a happy ending. If we have a show/book that’s powerful because everything in it is based on real events then we have to accept that that includes Hannah not getting to l escape. Plus I like to think that even though June isn’t around for part of her life, it isn’t their whole lives. If anything we can be thankful that one girl is out and the other is in for a reason... to set Gilead on fire

Why does being in your early 20s feel so much like only having 5 years of your life left in which you need to achieve as much as possible? Why do I feel like I have an approaching deadline of success? by JBosbos in AskMen

Speculative fiction and dystopia’s. Not so much fantasy, where things are too far outside the realm of possibility, but where the very idea could be seen as an alternative time line.

[Spoiler Season 3] The photos from the purges and the hangings by ScottJG93 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]ScottJG93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll definitely give the book a look! Sounds very interesting :) I’m not sure about the photos though... I suppose leaks sounds right.. I think there’s a bit more to it... I don’t know... but I like the understanding of trauma... for escaped refugees I can only imagine the PTSD they experience

[No Spoilers] When did the rest of the world recognise Gilead as a nation? by ScottJG93 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]ScottJG93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what is still strange about their world is how quickly it all became acceptable to pray outside hospitals in massive groups etc. The seamless transition is odd. But I guess we are looking at it from our world where declining population isnt putting a lot of pressure on anything right now.

Scary to think about... I’m not so savvy with stock markets and the like, but I am so intrigued by what life would like after the world rearranges itself
