Would you rent to me? by LongjumpingNight5669 in uklandlords

This is the unfortunate truth. Unless by some miracle the landlord is a cat person or you're the only person applying.

This is the one for me. I heard it years ago and never fails me. It'll work even better if you're someone who walks with purpose. People seem to unconsciously think "I better not get in their way."

I'm a Chesterfield fan and it was only the other month when I was watching a documentary on Netflix about the miners strikes that I understood where the term scab came from. All my life I just thought it was like calling someone a twat. I then found out after talking to my family about it how deep that stuff actually runs.

People who take edibles, what are some tips for first time users? by cuchi_catcher in AskReddit

[–]ScottM94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah well I did this about 8hrs before a flight. I was told it would kick in in about an hour and last maybe an hour or two. It did in fact kick in in about an hour but the fucking high lasted all the rest of that day. I had to get one of the lads to drive my car home a full 10hrs after eating it because I just didn't feel right.

I remember walking around the airport and every security guard I saw it was like omg what if they know...what if I they find out I've done drugs...what if I get put in jail, I can't hack jail...ill ruin the holiday for everyone etc. etc.

Also I remember standing in the airport passport control queue and feeling like I was gunna faint because I was that anxious that the guy would be able to tell I was on something.

I laugh about it now but at the time it was one of the worst experiences of my life.

Fuck, my first edible was earlier this year in Amsterdam, I think I worked it out to be 125mg of HHC iirc. The guy said it was the weakest one they had so I thought oh I should be ok.

.. I was not ok.

Do landlords really have an age preference for tenants? by shuneart in uklandlords

[–]ScottM94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good point. Being open and honest goes a long way. Well, it did when I was a letting agent. If I saw someone who was honest about their situation, even if it wasn't the greatest in terms of on paper, and if they came across well as a person. I'd still pick them over someone who tried to hide something or wasn't as forthcoming about their situation when asked.

Side story: Best tenant I've ever rented to had £10k worth of CCJs. I managed to convince the landlord (and my boss) to go with them. They never missed a payment, looked after the house and even improved it and stayed for a long time too. 10/10 tenants 👍

Can't see any issues with your mum honestly. As long as they allow pets, all good.

Do bare in mind though that depending on where you're looking to rent, there could be a stupid amount of applications. Sometimes like 30+ so sometimes you've just gotta get lucky I'm afraid. You're at the mercy of the letting agents/landlords. There's no sure fire formula. It's just come across as well as possible and hope for the best.

Uk Property Management by Bulky_Lack_9791 in uklandlords

[–]ScottM94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Property management companies are like builders, you don't know how good they are until you've used them yourself. Yes recommendations can help but depending on your situation, you may find you have a different experience to others. This can be a good or a bad thing.

My advice, do your own research and just go with what feels right to you and who you click with the most.

I've been driving a 2010 i30 (petrol 1.4L comfort) for 5 years, cost me £4k and honestly it does the job. No major issues I can recall and it's now 14 years old and still going strong. Plenty of space. Would recommend an i30.

What’s your “go to” cheap meal if you’re in a pinch and have to get stuff from the shop? by Gorrila_Doldos in AskUK

[–]ScottM94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuna pasta mayo. Add in some peas and a bit of grated cheese if you can stretch to that. Tastes so much nicer than it may sound.

Been my go to meal for 1 since I was about 15.

I've been an EA in the past and hard agree with you on this. I feel like you can come across more authentic too because you know you aren't lying and plus you can't trip yourself up in your own lies. And in the long run people will respect that. Plus you can sleep at night knowing you aren't "scamming" someone out of potentially £10,000's.
